Job Summary

The Sr. Director, Talent Consulting Services will be responsible for leading a pool of consultants to be deployed across various projects both aligned to business units or for special projects for the entire enterprise.

The role will provide planning, assessment of individual readiness, deployment preparation, coaching, strong performance management, specialist knowledge in HR or related fields.  The Senior Director will be able to effectively work in a changing and an agile environment and be an exceptional people leader who builds trust easily, people confide in, and is influential in providing a strong environment to the consultants in the pool.

This requires someone who is business savvy and accountable for all aspects of performance management and can also provide strong program management using phase gates to measure the deployment of resources.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a pool of consultants with diverse skills and backgrounds to deliver high-quality results for various projects and initiatives

• Assess the individual readiness of consultants and provide them with the necessary training, coaching, feedback, and support to ensure their success and satisfaction

What you’ll be doing

The Senior Director, Head of Fixed Income Market Risk has the mandate to lead the groups responsible for the ‘second line of defense’ governing the following areas of oversight: Global Fixed Income Trading Risk, Interest Rate Derivatives, Bond Trading, Money Markets, and Structured Rates Trading. Additionally, the Senior Director, Head of Fixed Income Market Risk also has the mandate to mentor the Capital Markets Risk Management (CMRM) Reporting and Analytics team, which covers portfolio based reporting and analytical insights for the broader Capital Markets trading businesses.

You will actively partner with Capital Markets trading desks, other CMRM Risk colleagues, core strategic business units (SBUs) and other infrastructure groups to produce key reports and metrics for senior leadership and regulators to measure and validate CIBC’s trading book risks – including regulatory measures such as VaR/ES, Stress Testing and Capital, as well as non-regulatory measures such as scenario analysis, global portfolio analysis and profit and loss (P&L) attribution. You will among other duties, participate and co-ordinate the risk management governance of daily market risk limits, new trade analysis, assessment of backtesting results, have signoff for new products, attest to CDOR submission oversight, and ensure adherence to monthly and quarterly controls around regulatory risk measures.

What you’ll be doing

As Director, Investor Relations & Performance Measurement, you will be accountable for providing value-add financial and strategic analysis to support IR and Performance Measurement activities. The role requires financial analysis and modelling skills and an understanding of capital markets. You will also require strong communication and collaboration skills to partner with other departments within Finance, all business units, Corporate Communications and Risk Management. Who You Are

• You have minimum of an undergraduate degree in business or equivalent.

• You have industry experience. 3-5 years industry-related experience and understanding of the Direct Financial Services business lines, products and services (in particular Simplii Financial). General knowledge of the operational, regulatory, and reputation risks associated with Direct Financial Services businesses and a comprehension of the policies, standards, processes and controls that need to be in place to mitigate these risks.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is the managerial professional who participates in the development of the strategic direction and objectives for information technology solutions. Oversee governance and compliance functions/issues on behalf of the GM & DFS business, including - Ensure compliance with Change Initiative Risk Assessments (CIRAs) with respect to new initiatives; Support execution of new contracts and agreements with vendors and partners in collaboration with Corporate Services, Legal, and other internal stakeholders; Accountable to ensure the completion of all GM & DFS governance functions –User System Access, Contract Review, etc.; Oversight of the Business Continuity Management plans and milestones as Accountable Officer for GM & DFS; Support GM & DFS business management team, front office and internal partners in the implementation of new compliance and governance requirements; Management, oversight of audits and related follow-up items including coordinating and responding to auditor/regulator requests, findings and reports; Working with Capital Markets Governance & Control teams to ensure suitable and effective controls are in place and help manage and support the coordination of the deficiency management process across GM & DFS;

• Finance/MIS - Work with business, Business Managers and/or Finance Business Support to develop. Management and Board Presentations; Quarterly Operational Risk Dashboard and analysis; and other presentations.

• Cross-Functional Relationships - Strong interpersonal and communication skills allowing the incumbent to work alongside the business, including Head of GM & DFS, on a day-to-day basis; Establish and maintain effective relationships with partners in CIBC, including, Operations, Finance, Risk Management, Technology, Legal and Compliance and other corporate governance groups as required to help address and resolve day-to-day issues as well as deliver on business initiatives; and Maintain regular dialogue with regional business managers and their teams as required on global initiatives and issues.

Who You Are

The successful candidate will help originate and structure U.S. residential mortgage financing and ultimately help execute residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) securitizations.  The role operates in a fast-paced trading floor environment. The incumbent’s mandate is to focus on activities that will help drive the growth of the GCF business in the US. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Major Activities:

• Preparing any necessary documentation and assisting in the process for internal deal review and approval.

• Responsible for helping with the growth of the desk’s strategy and efforts by developing and executing strategic plans to expand our product market-share and develop potential new products

• Initiate and manage the execution of structured transactions, evaluating and prioritizing transactions based on the rate of return on regulatory capital, probability of closing, ease of repeat transactions, and number of potential alternative applications.

• Monitor competitor activities, market conditions and report significant developments to relevant stakeholders

• Partner with internal and external clients to understand their objectives, identify and analyze the risks they face

• Work in tandem with structured marketers to identify specific client needs and opportunities and to build sector strategies.

• Improve CIBC’s ability to quickly respond to opportunities by developing transaction templates and seeking internal approvals for transactions, freeing marketers from labor-intensive product development responsibilities.

• Work effectively within CIBC’s corporate governance practices and policies (Risk Management, Finance, HR, Legal and Compliance) to ensure compliance with CIBC’s Governance and Control Framework and regulatory requirements.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• In depth understanding of fixed income markets and bond fundamentals with demonstrated expertise in the U.S. residential mortgage market;

• Expertise in the RMBS, CLO, and CMBS market will also be an asset;

• Team player who excels at working collaboratively with others in a group setting;

• Strong oral communication skills, incorporating the ability to explain detailed financial analysis;

• Strong client relationship skills, with a demonstrated ability to foster and grow deep relationships with both issuer and investor clients;

• Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task; and

• Efficient organizational skills to respond to shifting priorities on several simultaneous transactions.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• This role operates within a normal office environment;

• Open concept trading floor environment with exposure to noise and distractions;

• Ability to handle tight deadlines and heavy workload, the result of which is the requirement to work outside normal business hours;

• Ability to travel for work as required to support the origination and execution of mandates with clients; and

• Required to make frequent decisions in a fast paced work environment

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $200,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.   Requirements:
   

  The Managing Director will work with the Senior Managing Director to set strategy for the group, lead major client engagements, develop brand and marketing collateral, direct business development efforts, and manage the group.

  
  Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management with requisite consulting experience

  
  Experience:

  • 10 years minimum experience in Construction Management, Project Controls or Capital Project consulting focused on strategic facilities master planning, service line planning, and business and data analytics for large construction projects or capital projects.

  • Ideal candidate will have Construction Management and Project Control experience and experience managing and growing a Project Controls team.
