North Central London Cancer Alliance (NCLCA) is looking for a Cancer Improvement Manager to join our growing team in improving cancer outcomes for the population of North Central London. The post holder will be embedded at the Royal Free London Hospital working alongside their Cancer Performance Teams.

As the Cancer Improvement Manager, you will be responsible for identifying and leading on improvement projects across cancer services at Royal Free London Hospital to improve performance, patient outcomes and patient experience.

NCLCA is a collaboration of NHS and other bodies, hosted by University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will work in collaboration with the Operational Delivery Lead in the Alliance Team, and with clinical and managerial colleagues at Royal Free London Hospital. They will provide an interface between the acute provider where the post holder is embedded and the Cancer Alliance, and act as a key expert and contact for clinical and operational teams in relation to joint initiatives.

The main duties of the Cancer Improvement Manager are:

• Clinical engagement – To establish effective working relationships with, among others, consultants and clinical nurse specialists, and to promote collaboration across professional and departmental boundaries,
• Change management – To facilitate the development of improved patient pathways, through the application of best practice and service improvement methods,
• Project management and delivery – To develop and implement projects with clinical and operational teams,
• Communications – To actively engage, inform and influence key stakeholders.

Experience in operational management and knowledge of cancer pathways and performance is essential. Experience of using project management tools and principles and their application in a health setting is desired.

The difference you will make as a Property Services Team Leader

You will be responsible for leading and managing one of the four operations support teams to ensure the provision of effective and efficient administration surrounding the repairs, services, compliance works and other technical projects. Supporting the Administration Manager to build and maintain effective relationships with a range of customers and stakeholders.

About You

We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, resilient and confident with a proven track record of problem solving. You will have experience of identifying and resolving issues promptly. The successful candidate will also have previous line management experience, ideally in the housing/property sector. Advanced IT skills and literacy together with aptitude for complex data analysis and report compilation.

Role Profile

• Effective line management of one of the administrative teams. You will lead, manage, motivate, engage and support the team to deliver a customer focused service.
• Provide leadership to the team through effective coaching, mentoring, 121s and team meetings. Ensure team members understand their role and areas of responsibilities.
• Understanding and adherence to Financial and Procurement procedures
• Responsible for ensuring team members are inducted and adequately trained to fulfil their duties and adhere to internal processes and procedures. Ensure personal development plans are reviewed regularly.
• Support Senior Managers to monitor and manage third party contractor performance to achieve agreed service levels and KPIs.
• The timely production of management reports to support service delivery and meet business requirements.
• Investigate complaints (informal and formal) and expressions of dissatisfaction with the service; Respond to customers within our published service standards, both verbally and in writing.
• Set targets for your team and ensure these targets are monitored and regular reports/updates provided to support the business. Take corrective action where targets are under threat.
• Act as an ambassador for the service, actively building positive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities

Our Head of ESG will lead the development and implementation of Saga’s ESG strategy and ensure ESG initiatives are aligned with business practices, stakeholder expectations and regulatory requirements.

ESG Strategy

• Being seen as Saga’s ESG expert, understanding evolving standards and frameworks as regulatory requirements are updated.
• Developing and leading a multi-pronged strategy for Environmental, Social and Governance, and updating strategies over time to reflect changes in the business and external markets.
• Establishing ESG objectives and milestones to achieve both short and long-term goals within Business Units and functions.

Reporting and communications

• Supporting communication to all stakeholder groups on Saga’s ESG performance and progress, including creation and updates to Saga’s double materiality matrix.
• Developing both internal and external ESG reporting, working collaboratively across Business Units and functions to drive successful progress and outcomes. Establish the link between sustainability and financial performance.
• Designing, developing and publishing Saga’s external reporting on ESG within year-end disclosures in a standalone ESG report aligned to best practice frameworks such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
• Managing colleague engagement on ESG through campaigns and posts via Saga’s internal communications platform.
• Representing Saga at company meetings, industry events, conferences and forums on ESG topics.

Climate change, energy and emissions

• Calculating Saga’s Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions footprint, and disseminating reporting on emissions calculations to relevant teams and business units.
• Developing climate change strategy, governance arrangements, scenario analysis, risks and opportunities registers, targets and reporting in line with the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).
• Developing Saga’s targets and pathway to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 (in line with the UK Government’s legally binding commitment in accordance with the 2015 Paris Agreement), accredited by the Science Based Targets Initative (SBTi).
• Ensuring compliance with legislative requirements including the Energy Savings Opportunities Scheme (ESOS) (through energy audits, energy calculations and relevant returns to the regulator).

Governance

• Presenting strategic updates to Boards, Committees and key internal stakeholders on Saga’s ESG strategic progress, risks and opportunities.
• Establishing, administering and reporting to an ESG Steering Committee tasked with supporting and monitoring delivery of the Saga Group’s ESG strategy and targets.

Ratings and scores

• Managing relationships with key ratings agencies and bodies, including investor proxy agencies, and ratings agencies including MSCI and Sustainalytics.
• Developing Saga’s annual response to CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project), in the “Climate Change”, “Water” and “Forests” questionnaires.

Charitable giving

• Overseeing and administering Saga’s charitable giving activities and portfolio, including charitable partnerships, outreach, and donations.
• Managing relationships with partners, charities and community organisations supported by Saga.
