We have an exciting opportunity to join our Energy Infrastructure Category Team, focused on Overhead Line and Innovation. Well tailor the role to your experience, offering the position as either Junior Category Manager or Category Manager.
You'll play a key role in supporting our Networks Transmission and Distribution businesses and the wider SSE Group, managing procurement across a diverse range of works, goods, and services. A core responsibility of this role is ensuring that SSE Groups needs are captured and fulfilled across the categories you manage. Youll work closely with Category Managers to flex across multiple categories, adapting to changing priorities and business demands. This is a versatile role where youll need to be responsive, proactive, and collaborative. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting internal and external analysis and engaging effectively with stakeholders to determine optimum value creation opportunities for the categories e.g. sourcing strategies, process improvements, renegotiation strategies, dispute resolution etc.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure the development and delivery of category strategies that are aligned with corporate and business unit strategies and value drivers.
- Developing and implementing category management plans to make procurement more efficient, reduce supply and construction risks, and lower overall costs for the business.
- Analysing spending within each category to identify opportunities for savings, assess strategic value, evaluate risks, and check compliance with the category plan. Youll also oversee suppliers to ensure they meet their contractual obligations while reducing risks and enhancing sustainability to improve supply chain quality and reliability.
- Undertaking strategic sourcing events, negotiation and execution of effective, robust Framework Agreements, Call Off Contracts and One-off Contracts, in alignment with the category strategy and in compliance with applicable procurement regulations.
What Youll Need
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Experience in strategic procurement having completed high value complex tenders within a similar environment including experience of using NEC engineering and construction contracts or equivalent.
- Broad knowledge of contracts with the ability to draft special terms for goods, work and services, dispute procedures, with knowledge of relevant statutory and legal provisions to include construction risk.
- Proficient in negotiating costs, and terms and conditions.
- Excellent influencing and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to communicate confidently at various levels within the business, including presentation skills.
