Base Location: Flexible Scotland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSEN offices or depots around Scotland.
Salary: £33,500 - £50,300 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

SSEN Transmission has an opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager. Reporting to the HVDC Project Manager, the role is required on the Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2) project, the UK transmission businesses largest ever infrastructure project. The EGL 2 project comprises the construction of a HVDC converter station in Peterhead, NW Scotland, the construction of a HVDC converter station in Drax, North Yorkshire and an on land and subsea HVDC cable connecting the convert stations with a planned completion date of Dec 2029. This role will be involved in the management of the Peterhead Converter station construction scope.
The Key Duties and Responsibilities Will Be:
- Developing, managing and reporting on significant project budgets.
- Managing multi-disciplinary teams to deliver multiple project outputs to inform key processes such as Design Works, Construction and multi project interface management.
- Knowledge of NEC3 and FIDIC Suite of Contracts, with a focus on the Engineering and Construction and Professional Services Contracts.
- Applying Industry legislation, Health and Safety Legislation and Company policies and procedures, as well as actively managing project risks allocated through the risk management system and dynamic risk management.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Some experience in project lifecycle including design phases, with an ability to develop the optimum project solution, deliver to timescales and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other key relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
- An understanding of the electrical network within the Transmission business.
- Ideally a background in electrical engineering although not essential.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbally along with capability to represent EGL 2 with outside organisations.
