Bury Council’s Adult Learning Service is seeking to recruit a Senior Manager to join its Senior Leadership Team. Promoting adult learning is at the heart of Bury’s LET’S Do It! 2030 Strategy which is an ambitious vision for delivering inclusive economic growth and reducing levels of deprivation across the borough.

Joining this team will give you the opportunity to take responsibility for leading a team of Programme Managers in developing and delivering a range of innovative learning opportunities to support the existing and emerging needs of Bury residents. We are looking for someone with extensive experience at a senior management level in the post-sixteen education sector, within an adult learning setting. Ideally you will have played a significant role in co-ordinating a curriculum offer which responds to National, Regional and Local priorities.

Also of critical importance is the ability to demonstrate a proven track record of successful change management, relationship building, quality improvement and a passion for leading successful teams.

You will have thorough knowledge of the Education Inspection Framework and be able to demonstrate an ability to develop and deliver quality improvement strategies, in line with regulatory requirements and policy expectations within the exciting devolved administrative environment of Greater Manchester.

The ideal candidate will embody our LET’S Do It! values and will support putting learners at the centre of sharing in the success of our exciting plans to deliver excellent adult education for all the communities of our borough.

Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week. Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis.

About this Role

Responsibilities cover general caretaking duties including opening and closing the premises, basic maintenance and repairs, waste management, emergency call outs and Health and Safety and compliance checks, along with some cleaning duties. We are looking for a person that can work well on their own initiative and can identify issues themselves and remedy them before needing to be asked. What You Will Do:


Support Management: Assist the Registered Care Manager with the day-to-day management and coordination of the branch to ensure it operates efficiently, profitably, and delivers the highest standard of domiciliary care.
Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate records, produce reports, and investigate complaints from service users and employees.

What We Are Looking For:


Previous experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity in the domiciliary care sector is essential.
NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care required. Level 5 in Health and Social Care is desirable or working towards.
Proven ability to effectively lead, delegate, and mentor staff.
Excellent communication skills and a compassionate, empathetic nature.
High level of organisational skills with the ability to produce staffing rotas and manage multiple responsibilities.

Alongside the skills to lead, monitor and evaluate the improvement of learning and teaching across all phases of the school, you will require a thorough understanding of all aspects of highly effective safeguarding across the school and beyond. In addition, you will have a track record of effective working with parents, carers and wider stakeholders to support the SEND and EHCP process with a comprehensive understanding of pastoral interventions for pupils with additional needs and how they support aims of EHCPs.
