We have a great opportunity for a Senior Commercial Business Analyst to join our Team at United Utilities in Warrington on a permanent basis. As a Senior Commercial Business Analyst, you'll support the Commercial teams in their savings & benefits opportunity assessments, strategic decision making and continuous improvement initiatives. You'll also provide detailed analysis and interpretation of complex supplier data and create business intelligence content for the Commercial team Balanced Scorecard. You'll support the development of market, sourcing, and supplier collaboration opportunity assessment and also the Commercial function in the delivery of continuous improvement initiatives.
Accountabilities
- Create spend analysis and business intelligence reports, to include extrapolated trend and opportunity assessments and standard template based spend reports, working in collaboration with the Market, Sourcing and Supplier Collaboration teams, to identify savings and benefit opportunities, in support of the Commercial team annual saving target.
- Lead the creation and on-going maintenance of business management and key performance metrics-based content for the Commercial team balanced scorecard.
- Execution of the day-to-day reactive spend analytics requirements to respond at pace to the Market, Sourcing and Supplier Collaboration team requests for support in their delivery of savings opportunity assessments.
- Conduct technology investment reviews and create & implement digital technology business cases for low risk and spend technology investments and support the Commercial Operations Manager in the implementation of significant digital technology programmes.
- Manage and keep updated the SAP spend category taxonomy and supplier spend data, to include periodic reviews and any required updates, to deliver an accurate and trusted data source for spend and trend analysis.
- Develop and implement enhancements to the existing procurement technology implementation, working in collaboration with relevant stakeholders in experiential reviews, using continuous improvement techniques to drive an enhanced productivity and delivery experience.
- Creation and management of Commercial team budget and forecast reports, working collaboratively with Finance and the Commercial Operations Manager.
- Use data processing tools to extract, transform, model and visualise data and develop and maintain business-driven data reporting and analytics products.
- Engage with the external market to gather and assess emerging trends in procurement spend analytics and technology enablement and bring back relevant good practice, expertise, and knowledge to deliver improved analytical and technology enabled value.
- Development and implementation of spend analytic ideas and innovation-based business cases, working in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, to address existing business problems that require external analytical market expertise to solve.
- Accountability for the day-to-day management and maintenance of the Commercial SharePoint site, to upload regular and quality commercial content, and deliver a one-click stakeholder contact experience, together with the development of a self-service stakeholder experience for low spend, low risk transactional requirements.
- Manage all SharePoint queries to deliver a fast and effortless technology enabled experience for SAP requistioners and Commercial team stakeholders.
- Facilitate the regular SAP cleanse of one billion pound of spend data, in collaboration with Finance, to maintain accurate data management processes and a trusted data source for spend and trend analysis.
Knowledge and Skills
To be successful in this role you'll be educated in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or Engineering to degree standard or equivalent business experience. You'll also need:
- Demonstrable level of mathematical and statistical analysis, interpretation and reporting on spend data sets to create compelling analysis results.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to present key information in an engaging way.
- Demonstrable experience in spend analysis, interpretation, and trend extrapolation
- Experience of budget/financial management, budgetary control, planning and monitoring
- Strong technical skillset, particularly in the Microsoft Office suite
- Experienced with agile cross-functional collaborative working methods
- Problem-solving experience of complex supplier specific challenges
- Completer finisher mindset with experience of working to tight deadlines while maintaining high quality output and attention to detail
- Strong data presentation skills with a preference for the Tableau platform. Other tools will be considered.
- A demonstrable desire to learn how to utilise new technology and platforms.
- Experience of manipulating and extracting data to create report models.
