Thurrock's Debt Management Team is a highly recognised services having been nominated twice for the IRRV (Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation) Most Improved Team of the Year Award and was in the finalists in 2012 and achieved a Bronze Award in 2013.

The team are currently looking for experienced Court Officers to join this dynamic team. You will be responsible for effectively managing the major processes involved in the collection of the various Portfolios of Debt owed to the Council.

Whilst working in the Debt Management Team, you will be taking your selected cases through the Court Processes by attending and presenting the cases at County Court and attending Magistrates Court Hearings for both Liability Order Hearings and Committal Means Enquiry Hearings.

The ideal candidate will have:
- Confidence to be able to manage difficult conversations
- A knowledge of debt collection processes (Ideally Council Tax, Non Domestic Rates and Sundry)
- A knowledge of the Money Claims on Line (MCOL) process
- A knowledge of the County Court processes and methods of enforcement
- A clear understanding of the Charging Order, Bankruptcy and Committal processes
- A full knowledge and understanding of the Thurrock Fair Debt Policy
- Experience using negotiation skills
- Experience of communicating with members of the public.
- A full knowledge of the Means Enquiry process for Committal Hearings

Your new role
In your new role as a Senior Accounts Receivable, you will manage the daily activities of the team. You will also manage collections and following up of outstanding payments of key accounts, ensuring the timely resolution of any outstanding balances. You will be responsible for motivating and supporting the team to encourage success and positivity. There also could be opportunities to deputise for the AP/AR Manager when required.

Key Responsibilities:

• You will have ownership and maintenance of a variety of key account customers
• Produce and maintain reconciliations of key accounts
• You will support the AP/AR Manager with on-boarding of new customers.
• Conduct a weekly review and escalation of all aged debt problems to AP/AR Manager
• Weekly debt reviews
• You will be responsible for continuously reviewing credit limits.
• Support the AP/AR Manager in underwriting to minimise bad debts
• Own, review and circulate problem account daily
• Produce the orders on hold report daily
• Support and motivate the team
• Contribute the essential information to adhere to the strategic goals of the company
• Ad Hoc duties as and when required

What you'll need to succeed

• Previous experience in a senior position, where you have experience of leading and motivating a team
• Experience of and are competent at completing account reconciliations on Excel
• Good understanding of an AR function
• Self-starter, motivated with an ability to multi task

My client, an established and leading manufacturer of components and assemblies for aerospace, petrochemical and general industrial markets, are currently looking to recruit a Senior Proposals Engineer to join their Commercial / Sales Team. We would also be interested in speaking to individuals with experience within an Engineering Purchasing environment looking to move into a more Sales / Proposals based environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare estimates from client's enquiry packages for review and pricing by the Proposals Manager.
• Review client specifications.
• Prepare quotations.
• Liaise with manufacturing departments in the process of preparing bid documents.

Candidate Requirements:

• Previous experience working in estimating and/or sales, ideally within an industrial engineering and/or manufacturing sector
• The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Have a good understanding of Welds, Fabrication and Stainless Alloys
• Previous fabrication / welding experience would be highly desirable
• Strong organisation skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively across all levels of business, both internally and externally
