Aircraft Senior Supervisor (Mechanical)

Salary £29,393 per annum plus benefits
Increasing to £32,479 subject to role requirements and successful completion of probation period (minimum 3 month period)
Here at Serco we support the development of the RAF’s next generation of aircrew, engineers and air traffic controllers through our unique contract with the Air Cadet organisation. We maintain and manage their fleet of gliders, and as our Senior Supervisor you’ll play a key role in keeping these aircraft operational and in the air.
Based at RAF’s Central Gliding School you’ll lead and manage teams carrying out maintenance on Glider aircraft at the base and around the country. As part of the role you’ll carry out the duties of Certifying Staff in accordance with Military Aviation Authority Regulatory Publication Regulatory Article 4801 and Part 145. No two days are the same and you’ll enjoy a role that is full of variety and challenge.
You’ll be a key member of our dedicated aviation team. We’re a close-knit team of professionals who actively support each other – and as well as ongoing career progression and development we can offer flexible working arrangements and an early finish on a Friday.
What you'll need to do the roleThe members of our team come from both a military and civilian background. To meet the qualification and experience requirements of the role, we require our Senior Supervisors to meet one of the following: Be appropriately experienced and have completed, as a minimum, MOD Phase 2 technical training, or appropriate experience and suitable equivalent civilian training. You’ll also need to demonstrate that you have held authority or potential to sign for independent Inspection (Military) or duplicate inspections (Civilian). Furthermore, you will need to have working knowledge of military or civilian aircraft maintenance documentation and publications.
Because the aircraft are stationed around the UK you’ll not only need to travel away, which may involve several overnight stays, but you must also hold a full driving licence. You’ll also need to be medically fit to work in an aircraft engineering environment, with manual handling and aircraft rigging and de-rigging (physically demanding) as part of the job.
