The successful candidate will be expected to work at a senior clinical fellow level within this team and will be required to work in the operating theatre, take part in daily ward rounds, assist in out-patient clinics, participate in MDT meetings, and perform other relevant work as directed by the Consultants. The post-holder will also be required to participate in the sub-specialty on-call rota for liver transplant (supported by a consultant). This post is EWTD compliant and attracts a banding of 1A. It is not recognised by the Deanery for training, however, opportunities may be available for some of the post-holders to join the active postgraduate research programme within the department including, where appropriate, registration for a higher degree. The Royal Free also runs simulator training courses in advanced laparoscopic surgery in addition to having an active clinical programme in minimally invasive surgery. The successful candidate will be encouraged to make use of all the post-graduate training facilities and the diverse range of management and clinically orientated courses.

Our Clinical Fellow posts are intended to provide experience in Paediatric Emergency Medicine in a major trauma centre. They are aimed at Emergency Medicine or Paediatric trainees, looking to gain further experience in Paediatric Emergency Medicine. Our clinical fellow posts come with dedicated time to pursue an area of interest, with 20% of the job plan allocated to the Fellow’s special programme activity. The department receives a full range of emergencies from the local area in addition to major trauma from North East London and Essex with a total of 180,000 patients seen each year including 40,000 paediatric patients.

The post includes registrar level duties in the paediatric emergency department working on a full shift rota. Clinical duties are supported by 24/7 consultant presence, senior training registrars and a team of junior doctors and practitioners.

Candidates must hold full registration with the GMC with a licence to practice.
