Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service are looking for an Executive Support Officer to enhance our team based at our Service Headquarters in Exeter. You will join us on a Permanent basis (37 hours per week). In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £27334 - £29777 per annum.

About the role:
As our Executive Support Officer, you will be required to work both on your own and as part of a team to use your own initiative to conduct research that informs officers supported by the Executive Support Team of issues arising, prepare responses to stakeholder enquiries and support the delivery and attainment Service and Executive objectives, through a variety of duties such as inbox and diary management, meeting servicing, supporting Service events, and supporting other projects as directed by the Executive Board leads. You will need to be able to work in an ever changing environment and have a proactive approach.
Key responsibilities as an Executive Support Officer:
Actively identify and carry out opportunities for research activities that directly support Executive objectives and activities.
Take a pro-active approach in delivering the objectives and actions required to achieve the responsibilities and performance required. Understand the requirements of those supported by the Executive Support Team and manage their expectations on delivery.
Be responsible for the delivery of specific projects identified in accordance with Service policies and within allocated resources.
Establish and maintain appropriate links with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure the successful delivery of the portfolio of supported individuals.
Manage designated Outlook mailbox and calendars, intercepting, responding to and redirecting any mail or enquiries as appropriate.
Attending meetings to support leads, taking minutes, drafting agendas, recording actions and decisions.
Support the continual review and optimisation of processes and systems of work so they evolve to maximise team efficiencies.
Adopt use of templates to support streamlining and consistent delivery of outputs from the Executive Support Team.
Provide resilience to other members of the Executive Support Team where required.
Gain and maintain a good knowledge and understanding of DSFRS structure, understand how the Fire and Rescue Plan and Community Risk Management Plan and the wider national issues could have the potential to impact on the Service's and Executive's objectives.

Ability to engage openly with people operating at all levels within an organisation and to do so in a professional manner whilst maintaining confidentiality.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Good numerical skills
Proven experience of working with MS Office software and other packages including
Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote.
Good organisational and time management skills
Proven ability to work accurately to tight deadlines, proactively with a degree of autonomy and a high level of self-motivation.
Proven ability to work well in a changing environment.
