£20,484 - £22,562 (20 Hours per week Term-Time & 36 Hours per week during school holidays)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Childcare Supervisor, within the Childcare Strategy Team.
This is an excellent opportunity to oversee and manage a number of Kids Clubs (out of school care clubs managed by Perth and Kinross) as a Lead Practitioner.
You will be expected to work on your own initiative and as a team member who directly contributes to and supports the Childcare Supervisors and colleagues. You will work with the Childcare Supervisor in the development of each of the services, appropriate to the needs of young children and their families in the setting, within the context of both local and national policies and procedures.
The successful post-holder will assist in the organisation and management and quality improvement of the services for the benefit of all children, families and the wider community providing support for the Childcare Strategy Team.
A flexible approach to working conditions will be required to work; the contracted hours are 20 hours per week, term-time, between the hours of 2pm-6pm, and 36 hours per week during holiday periods, with some evening meetings and training.
You will manage your own diary and visits to services, and you will require access to transport make these visits.
Requirements
You will be required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) for Day Care of Children within 6 months of commencing employment and responsible for maintaining annual membership.
You will hold a childcare qualification with one of the following:
- SVQ Level 3 in Social Services (Children & Young People).
- HNC Childhood Practice.
- HNC Childcare and Learning.
- SVQ Level 3 Care Learning & Development.
You will have evidence of ongoing professional development and be able to meet the required conditions of registration with the SSSC as a Lead Practitioner within the set timescales and be able to demonstrate progress on an ongoing basis.
It is a condition of the post that you must be willing to work towards a Degree in Childhood Practice.
The successful candidate will be supported to access further training both award bearing and continued professional development.

The Individual
We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate experience within early learning or a childcare environment with a good knowledge of childcare and the relevant governing bodies (SSSC, Care Inspectorate).
The role requires sensitivity, patience, and compassion along with a welcoming approach to generate a feeling of trust and safety for children and their family / carers.
A genuine interest in the development of children and their wellbeing is essential and the important qualities are kindness, sensitivity, respectfulness, and good manners and to respect confidentiality.
Supervisory skills are required for managing a team of professionals with excellent communication skills to motivate and engage with staff and children.
Excellent planning and organisation skills are also required with the ability to maintain office procedures and systems, establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, children, parents and carers and other professionals to ensure the effective delivery of service.
You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
