What will I be doing?

Your role will be working within our Adults domiciliary and Complex children’s care packages to provide care and support for all clients. This will be delivered in a mix of the client’s own homes and out in the community. Your role may involve:

Supporting with social outings

Following daily activity planners

Fun days out

Managing Challenging behaviour

Working with children with severe autism, ADHD or learning difficulties.

Working with Adults with both basic and complex care needs.

Hoisting and mobility support

We can offer flexible working patterns to suit you and everyone will work on a 2 weekly rolling rota including evening and weekend work an example of this could look like:

Approved Premises (APs) contribute to the effective risk management of people released from prison by providing an enhanced level of supervision, monitoring and rehabilitation within the community.The post requires experience of working with complex and vulnerable people and an understanding of residential setting within the Criminal Justice System. The role will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:

• Assist in the supervision of residents in accordance with policy and practice under the direction and guidance of managers and relevant staff where necessary. Deal with routine issues raised by residents on a day-to-day basis.
• Staff and supervise the Approved Premises during designated shifts, referring serious incidents to designated on-call Manager and adhere to the procedure of completing incident reports as necessary.
• Ensure enforcement of Approved Premises rules and deal with any breaches in accordance with procedures. Respond appropriately to abusive or aggressive behaviour.
• Demonstrate pro-social modelling skills by consistently reinforcing pro-social behaviour and attitudes and challenging anti-social behaviour and attitudes
• Liaise with Key Workers, Deputy Manager and Manager as appropriate to share issues concerning residents.
• Process information and maintain records including inputting information on the database system by recording any significant occurrences relating to residents during shift.
• Contribute to the work with substance misusers in accordance with relevant policies, practices and protocols e.g. dispensing/recording medication if requested by the management team
• To monitor and record residents’ movements in and out of the building.
• Contribute to the maintenance of a healthy, safe and productive work environment, including familiarising and using appropriate health and safety equipment. Monitor and record Health and Safety checks and related issues.
• Report any maintenance or security issues in accordance with procedures.
• Conduct curfew checks, wellbeing checks, fire alarm tests, room searches, clearing of residents’ room as required and monitor CCTV equipment.
• Maintain an active presence in the AP at all times. Regularly engage with residents in a pro-social manner. Contribute towards the protection of residents, e.g. monitor in line with risk assessments.

Here at Edinburgh Woollen Mill, we are looking for an Administrative Assistant to join our team providing administrative and secretarial support to the Company Secretary, based in our Head Office in Carlisle.

In this role you will be part of the Corporate Administration Department which is responsible for providing service, guidance and support in the key areas of insurance, claims management, pensions, health & safety and legal compliance for a number of separate companies.

Key responsibilities:

- Assist the Company Secretary with all administration and secretarial tasks
- Minute taking of meetings
- Recurring day to day responsibilities
- Assist with any project work from time to time
- Building Management tasks such as reporting repairs, liaising with contractors, testing alarms and emergency lighting.
- Daily contact with stores and other managers to gather information or provide support.

What we are looking for?

- Must have fundamentally strong secretarial, clerical, word processing, database and spreadsheet skills - accuracy rather than speed is important.
- The ability to record meetings and experience with minute taking will be an advantage.
- Someone who enjoys working in a close team, but also able to work independently and engage their own initiative.
- A full driving licence is useful but not essential.
- Health and Safety training would be an advantage
- Involvement in pensions would be beneficial, particularly automatic enrolment
- A great telephone manner is essential, ability to be polite and patient on the telephone in potentially frustrating situations.

Training in the key areas will be given but the successful candidate will have to prove literacy, numeracy and integrity.
