We are currently recruiting for an Event and Marketing Assistant to join our growing team at Restart.
The Events and Marketing Assistant works within the Employment and Skills Marketing Team. The role delivers events and marketing for the Restart Scheme and in support of Serco’s wider business and marketing objectives.
The Events and Marketing Assistant will coordinate the set up and attendance of a range of events and meetings (online and in-person) on behalf of the delivery teams and provide any communications support.
The Events and Marketing Assistant will also assist the Marketing Manager with various marketing tasks, with a key focus on writing various communications, designing collateral using Canva and working with our design and print agencies on a range of projects.
Key accountabilities
- To coordinate attendance at key conferences and exhibitions as required by the operational teams.
- To organise Serco led events and meetings including managing venue bookings and attendees.
- To manage an events calendar that is shared with internal and marketing teams to allow for planning and event promotion.
- To ensure that event bookings are dealt with in a professional and timely manner and all appropriate information is sent to attendees.
- To monitor event quality and ensure high levels of event satisfaction.
- To provide ‘at–event’ support, where necessary, including setting up of event stands and ensuring collateral is in place as required.
- To create event support material such as sign in facilities, merchandise, flyers, agendas or feedback forms.
- To build strong relationships with operational teams to ensure effective communication and delivery of event and marketing support.
- To use Microsoft Dynamics to create, design and send invites for events and emails to a wide range of stakeholders ensuring distribution lists are kept up-to-date.
- To write quality content for various marketing channels which meets Serco’s corporate standards.
- To create on-brand collateral for the promotion and delivery of the Restart Scheme using Canva for smaller projects or via our design agencies for larger projects.
What I need to do the role?
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Business Administration or related subject and / or experience of organising events and associated activities.
- Proven experience in a marketing role
- Experience in organising a range of events for different audiences.
- Experience in setting up virtual / digital events or webinars.
- Experience of coordinating attendance at conferences or exhibitions
- Strong copywriting skills, able to proofread and strong attention to detail
- Ability to write content for a range of channels and audiences.
- Working knowledge of design software such as Canva to create templates and other visuals.
- Experience using email marketing platforms.
- Strong IT and digital skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with people at all levels.
- Able to build positive working relationships with teams across the business, collaborating to develop and deliver an effective marketing strategy that meets objectives.
- Infrequent travel to events or to meet business needs may be required as well as quarterly travel to attend face to face meetings.
- Flexibility in working hours to set up or attend events may be required.
