The role
As a Mechanical and Welder Supervisor you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll lead a team of Industrial Trades responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, testing and commissioning activities on Fleet Assets. Ensuring completion of all planned project activities to ensure the department meets the objectives of the business to time, cost, safety, and quality standards.
Day-to-day, you'll lead and manage a multi skilled trades team of Welders, Mechanical fitters, and Coppersmiths for the delivery of Fleet Engineering work packages. Using technical capability to collaborate with project stakeholders to plan and schedule packages of work. You will also:
- Work with the Nuclear Repair Enablement and Fleet Programme Teams to define and detail the work required to deliver each activity. Defining each manageable task and schedule of activities to remove conflicts.
- Ensure all safety, quality and technical documentation is reviewed and available at the commencement of all tasking.
- Engagement and management of subcontractors to complete areas of the work package in accordance with site processes.
- Implementation and promotion of the Company's Safety, Quality and Environmental policies during projects, ensuring that assessments of risks are carried out which lead to safe working attitudes and practices.
- Work with the Delivery Manager Ashore and departmental Training Staff to manage development and performance of the Delivery Team.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on site at HM Naval Base Clyde (Faslane) with occasional travel to our Coulport site.
Essential experience of the Mechanical and Welder Supervisor
- Previous experience working within Nuclear Engineering with Engineering Supervisory experience
- Awareness and application of Safe Systems of Work
- Safety, Health, Environment, Quality awareness
- Experience in collaborating with multiple stakeholders simultaneously in a dynamic engineering environment
- Must be able to work safely and perform tasks at varying heights
Qualifications for the Mechanical and Welder Supervisor
- HNC in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent trade experience and knowledge
- ILM Level 3 is desirable but not essential
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
