This position serves as Supply Technician (Medical) for the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) areas of Logistics Service within the VA Health Care System. As a Supply Technician, you will provide wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital facilities with supplies and material including, but not limited to, sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instrument sets and equipment. Major duties and responsibilities include:

• Pulls stock inventory and material for delivery; replenishes stock inventory; interacts with clinical and administrative customers and maintains records on stock levels;
• Communicates to the Lead or Supervisor any concerns related to supplies, equipment and procedures.
• Provides information to customers regarding medical supplies;
• Monitors expiration dates, rotates stock to limit outdates and removes items from use as required by outdates;
• Monitors and controls critical supplies;
• Performs daily inventory using bar coding equipment on a predetermined schedule that will allow for timely replenishment;
• Resolves differences between records and physical count of stock;
• Distributes items according to established or ad hoc requirements in computerized inventory management systems;
• Delivers supplies in a timely manner and ensures supplies and material delivered are in sterile and operational condition;
• Completes specialty cart preparation;
• Cleans assigned secondary areas in accordance with aseptic principles; and
• Receives supplies and material into the medical center's catchment area.

• Perform a full range of supply technician duties with responsibility for obtaining medical/dental material, equipment and services from commercial sources.
• Serve as a point of contact for review, correction and submission of all prime vendor summary receipts for both medical/surgical and pharmaceutical Class VIII supplies.
• Work with the Defense Supply Center Program (DSCP) in order to review outstanding orders.
• Reconcile vendor invoices with automated system and make changes accordingly to ensure proper payment is made.
• Serve as a medical commodity manger performing duties in the documentary control and management of the Federal Supply Class or Classes assigned.
• Work directly with the contractual prime vendor to determine the best course of action to correct discrepancies either orally or in writing.

• Manage property book records to include property acquired by purchase, lease, rental, transfer, manufacture, etc.
• Assist in maintaining the property book which is a record of all property authorized by the Table of Distribution and Allowances (TDA) and Common Tables of Allowances such as CTA 50-909, and CTA 50-970.
• Serve as Government Purchase Card (GPC) holder. Make purchases from approved vendors and on the open market in accordance with applicable Department of the Army and organization policies and procedures.
• Ensure controls are effectively in place to prevent fraud, waste, abuse and mismanagement. Monthly, reconcile bank statement and provides all documentation to billing official.
• Ensure procedures are followed in initiating procurement actions, funds are certified as available, and required approvals are obtained and documented.
• Initiate inventories of property at periodic intervals. Reconcile discrepancies by reviewing the property book posting with transaction documents for errors; initiate turn-in slips to adjust to adjust discrepancy.
• Initiate change of hand receipt holder and change of PBO inventories. Maintain property accounting records for non-expendable items in accordance with current regulations. Prepare issue, turn-in, and other transaction documents.
• Maintain transaction history and corresponding supporting voucher files and make necessary posting to the property accountability records. Maintain a variety of manual and automated files. Compile information and prepares a variety of reports.
• Provide technical support to Hand Receipt Holders (HRHs) and customers. Assure HRH and management officials are informed and trained in pertinent governing regulations, procedures and guidelines relative to hand receipt responsibility.
• Schedule and coordinate annual wall-to-wall inventory for all property book items with the hand receipt holders. Initiate and assist hand receipt holders in completing reports of survey in the event of lost or damaged non-expendable items.
• Conduct fleet management functions. Monitor assigned government vehicles. Ensure vehicles are properly dispatched and maintenance services are performed.

• Maintain stock levels and supply flow according to usage rates, delivery time, current demand, items on hand, and cost based on quantities orders.
• Maintain a register of all repair work orders.
• Type various documents such as justification for priority order items that include memorandums, letter, forms, and other materials.

• Conduct searches for information pertaining to abnormal supply transactions and patterns, reconciling as needed.
