The Apprenticeship will comprise of: On the job training and 6 hours minimum off the job training or new learning per week. The academic component of the course will be delivered by Sheffield Hallam University, remotely / online, with a few days a year in person attendance on campus. Patient Care/Relations

i. Assist in the coordination and movement of ambulant and non-ambulant patients requiring radiological services within WH.

ii. Provide basic pre and post-examination care to patients, such as changing attire, oral contrast preparation, and post-procedural instructions.

Title: Radiographer Grade: Band 6 Responsible to : Head of Imaging Accountable to : Radiology Service Manager Role To be responsible for carrying out radiographic imaging to a high standard and in a professional manner, working to departmental guidelines whilst being accountable for own actions. The post holder will be required to carry out radiographic duties in all areas including theatres, A&E both adults and paediatrics, on wards especially those with high dependency patients and the critically ill. Personal-development Clinical To independently undertake diagnostic radiology procedures maintaining high professional standards of technical competence and ensuring standards of essence of care at all times. To assess and adapt techniques and protocols following assessment for each procedure. To take responsibility for the care of the patient whilst undertaking the procedure. This includes manual handling. Offer an opinion on images obtained to relevant medical personnel To supervise and provide clinical assistance to assistant practitioners To provide team leadership where required. Provide clinical support for other radiographers where needed. To ensure the protection and safety of all patients and staff against the dangers of radiation. To monitor and evaluate Ionising Radiation Regulations 99 and IR(ME)R 2000 and ensure patients procedures are performed with due consideration of these regulations. To comply with Health & Safety and COSHH regulations. To ensure patient confidentiality is observed at all times and observe the requirements of the data protection act and freedom of information act. To participate in the departments out of hours on-call rota. To observe all local rules and the Trusts employment policies and procedures. To undertake regular QA tests to identify and report equipment faults or inaccuracies Ensure the safe use of specialist radiology equipment. To report equipment failures immediately. Training To participate in the induction and training of new staff, assistant practitioners and student radiographers. To attend compulsory staff training courses To provide assistance and be involved in departmental projects and audits To be actively involved in departmental quality groups and pro-active in the sharing of good practice. To take every opportunity to gain knowledge to achieve competency in an area of speciality within the Radiology department. To have a basic knowledge of CT Communication. To offer advice and guidance to patients, carers and other health professionals on radiology procedures and radiation issues taking due consideration of patients conditions. To inform and promote Radiology guidelines and departmental policies to other healthcare professionals To obtain informed consent from patients prior to undertaking procedures as appropriate to individual circumstances To ensure accurate recording on the Radiology Information System patient information and examination details including confirmation of examination and consumables used and dose received by patient. To promote good relations with other directorates and hospitals To attend any meetings as required by the Head of Imaging or Radiology Services Manager. Personal Development To attend any relevant study days, in-house lectures, training afternoons and quality group meetings. Participate in departmental audit. Participate in the radiographic rotation through the highly specialised areas ofCT and MRI. Participation in the vetting of appropriate request forms and discussion with themedical team regarding appropriateness and urgency of examinations in associationwith the Area Lead in charge of the area. Close liaison with the Area leads to organise and supervise workflow in the area. Responsible for the injection of contrast media for enhanced examinations, andawareness of type of contrast media required for different examinations. Reports and records faults on equipment as and when they occur. Ensure radiation doses to every patient are as low as reasonably achievable(ALARA) consistent with a diagnostic result. To work to radiographic protocols and policies as required under the ionisingregulations. To comply with IR(ME)R 2017 & IRR 2017. Perform regular QA on equipment in all areas of work

Tasks & Responsibilities :

• Ability to carry out X-ray imaging with industry-standard X-ray machine(s) independently without the need for supervision

• Conduct necessary quality assurance tests before equipment is used on patients.

• Adhere to safe work practices especially in radiation safety and infection control. - Provide prompt imaging services, ensuring safety level of devices before performing test and safety of patients.

• Ensure good housekeeping of the procedure rooms and work areas as well as proper care of equipment

• Work closely with doctor(s) and/or support staff to ensure patient care is met at a standard and quality set out by the Management

• Other assignments as and when required (e.g.)

Qualifications & Experience :

• Minimum Diploma / Degree in Diagnostic Radiology

• At least 1 year of working experience in this role in Singapore

• Registered with valid AHPC Practicing Certificate (Singapore)
