We are looking for a MRI Radiographer to join our Radiography Department in Kingston What you will do: As a MRI Radiographer you will be responsible for ensuring our patients receive the best standard of care while generating high-quality images to support their healthcare pathway. You will deliver an effective and professional service, working alongside your colleagues in a dynamic and fast paced environment Carry out magnetic resonance imaging procedures to best practice standards of radiographic techniques (MHRA Guidance 2015, IR(ME)R 2017, Code of Clinical Practice). What you are responsible for: Providing a great experience for patients attending MRI scanning, supporting them through the process from referral to results Running quality assurance checks on equipment and action as appropriate Respecting and working within patient's and service users' customs, values and spiritual beliefs, making sure their views are sought and taken into account Performing triage functions of referrals, as required Supporting patient bookings and making sure patient information systems are maintained with accurate and up-to-date information Completing competency assessments Adhering to all operational procedures Maintaining a clean and safe working environment Sharing knowledge and clinical experience with the wider team to support each others growth and development. We are looking for someone who has: BSc Radiography or equivalent Membership of an appropriate professional body and holds a valid registration (HCPC) A good understanding of fundamental MRI physics and different scanning techniques and sequences A proven knowledge of the requirements of a radiographers role regarding the care of patients, their careers and other colleagues A high level of professionalism and technical standard of work Aptitude towards improving quality The ability to work in a multidisciplinary team Understanding of the implications of the Data Protection Act, Caldicott Principles and GDPR A flexible approach to work and able to work across 7 days (Mon-Sun) A strong team player attitude, being supportive, caring, reliable and trustworthy The ability to be calm when working under pressure and in a busy environment A positive attitude, taking pride in their work and is passionate about the service they provide The passion for developing their career in radiography and working towards new milestones. Key Responsibilities To ensure imaging procedures are carried out in accordance with mandatory departmental systems of work and protocols. To adapt technique to the condition of the patient and level of co-operation, consistent with a good diagnostic outcome/optimum image quality. To assess each patient and request to produce the correct course of action for examination and diagnosis. To actively develop high standards of patient care ensuring Trust policies and protocols are widely communicated and are implemented e.g., infection control. To play an active role in the implementation and development of quality assurance programmes including departmental audit. To undertake additional areas of responsibility as delegated by the Team Leader.

Your day to day role would include: Efficient and effective running of the CT lists, ensuring that policies and procedures are adhered to provide a safe and efficient environment for the patient Participate in the supervision of student Radiographers and training of CT Radiographers on Band 5/6 preceptorship Maintaining good working relationships with all Departments Be proactive and keen to fulfil the responsibilities of the Band 6 role as in the Job Description.

Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for MRI trained Radiographers in the Centre for Translational MR Research, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Five days work week, non-shift.

Purpose of the post

The successful candidate will perform independent MRI examinations on a wide range of body parts and to be familiar with different MR imaging techniques for research - primarily neuro related but also some body, musculoskeletal, cardiac and MR spectroscopy. Candidate will also have the opportunity to learn MR data processing and programming if keen.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Perform MR imaging on a range of body parts and MR techniques.
2. Maintain MR Safety of all procedures happening at scanner site.
3. Responsible for good housekeeping of the procedure rooms and work areas.
4. To run regular quality assurance checks on scanner.
5. To work with researchers to develop standardized scanning protocols for their studies and to work in accordance to safe work practices.
6. Ensure proper archival of acquired data.
7. Perform other administrative duties or ad-hoc quality departmental project/activities as assigned by the Director/Reporting Officer.

Qualifications

1. Degree in Radiography/ Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography/ Degree in medical imaging
2. Valid registration with Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC)
3. MRI trained
4. BCLS + AED certified
5. Effective communication and interpersonal skills

To be familiar with, understand and apply the principles of Radiation Safety, both nationally and locally regulated or protocol led. To give theoretical instruction, practical guidance, and supervision to less experienced staff, Student Radiographers, Assistant Practitioners and trainees. To assist with the practical experience of newly inducted staff To participate in imaging risk management and quality / audit programme and to undertake duties commensurate towards achievement of ISAS accreditation. To attend Radiology Governance meetings and to report all incidents, to include all radiation and drug error incidents in accordance with the Trust DATIX procedures and local operating policies and procedures. To participate in the full shift system including Bank Holidays and weekends, and 'On call' rosters, in line with the departmental agreement, to support full service delivery. Organise facilities for carrying out routine and specialist investigations sessions. The CT Scanning department at CUH undertakes a wide range of scanning techniques some of which are not performed anywhere else in the country and in some research instances the world. Due to our close links to the University of Cambridge and the Cambridge Biomedical Campus we can offer the opportunity to work with the most up to date technology, imaging protocols, and be at the forefront of new research and development of new techniques.
