An exciting opportunity has arisen at the North West Genomic Laboratory Hub (NW GLH) for a Deputy Quality Manager / Principal Clinical Scientist. This is a permanent Band 8a position jointly based at the NHS North West Genomics Laboratory Hub (NW GLH), St Mary's Hospital, Manchester and the Oncology Cytogenetics Laboratory, The Christie Hospital NHS Trust, Manchester.
You will be required to show that you are dynamic and highly motivated with a proven, high level of scientific skill and expertise with a high level of experience in quality management. You will be responsible for managing quality at the Christie Oncology Cytogenetics laboratory site as well as deputising for and supporting the Quality Manager. You will also be supporting the management of a team of registered Clinical Scientists to deliver and develop the diagnostic workload and to develop the workforce. The team will be dependant on your area of expertise and service need and could be based at the NW GLH Manchester site or at the Christie Oncology Cytogenetics Laboratory. State Registration as a Clinical Scientist in the modality of Genetics is Mandatory. You will have achieved success in the first written examination component of the FRCPath examination (Genetics, or Molecular Genetics, or Cytogenetics or Molecular Pathology) or be actively working towards this.
