We are working with an exciting and innovative client within the construction industry. Due to site expansion and restructure, they require a Maintenance Engineer at their Leeds site. The jobholder is responsible for the daily preventative maintenance and repair of heavy plant equipment to ensure efficient, continuous operation of the site. Working as part of the maintenance team as well as working closely with the Shift Supervisor, production teams and contractors, ensuring the day-to-day maintenance and repairs is completed effectively and safely, alongside continual improvements to the production plant. Developing a detailed understanding of the facility to continuously improve maintenance systems and ensure they work properly and that they comply with Health, Safety, Environment and Quality regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Responsible to personally carry out Daily, Weekly & Monthly preventative planned maintenance (PPM) activities, in line with the manual and manufacturer's instructions that are recorded in the site logs. * Responsible for the workshop area, and tracking/replenishing consumables.

* Responsible for the spares and sourcing suppliers to ensure spares are readily obtainable, with the longer lead-time critical spares held in stock, resulting in minimal plant downtime.

* Hands on guidance and training, to assist the teams with both preventative and reactive maintenance requirements associated with the plant and equipment at Leeds.

* Responsible for the continual operation of the plant, fault-finding and breakdown repairs.

* Take a proactive approach to providing improvements resulting in minimising downtime and optimising production.

* Flexible to cover staff shortages and call-outs to deal with breakdowns and operational problems, and to carry out other reasonable duties required by the site management.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

* At least 5 years' experience within a heavy industry (aggregates, concrete, mining or waste) maintenance environment with the ability to fault find and repair mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic issues.* Preferably CGLI, NVQ, BTEC or HND qualified.

* Knowledge and experience in but not limited to: - Conveyor belt systems - changing bearings and rollers, fitting skirts. Pan mixers - Replacing arms, tips and wear plates, gearbox repairs. Hydraulics - servicing hydraulic packs, replacing ram seals, valve and hose servicing /repair Pneumatics - Airline replacement, compressor servicing, valve replacement.

* Ability to carry out basic welding and fabrication repairs and improvements as required.

* Strong team worker with the ability to train and motivate others in the understanding of plant and machinery maintenance.

* Ability to review and improve PPM systems and processes within a growing business, and (in conjunction with the Site Manager and Senior Supervisor).

* Willingness to be innovative, work under their own initiative, with strong organisational skills, being able to plan, prioritise and organise various tasks at the same time.

* Must have a flexible approach to work and be contactable out of hours.

DESIRABLE SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

* Experience within an aggregates, concrete, mining or waste environment.

* Fabrication and welding experience.

* Basic industrial electrical knowledge.

* Holder of an IOSH or recognised safety training certificate.

* Hold appropriate mobile plant operating certificates, ideally with the ability to train others.

* Confident and diplomatic communicator, both written and verbal.

This Maintenance Mechanic position is assigned to the Facilities Division of Big Bend National Park and directly reports to the Supervisor for Buildings and Utilities. The incumbent will perform custodial duties daily, and occasionally in multiple location. Must have basic knowledge of cleaning products and supplies and how to safely use them. The incumbent will assist higher graded workers preform repairs and routine maintenance in constructing, altering, modifying, or repairing a wide range of features in buildings interior and exterior including framework, rafters, joists, insulation, sheet rock, doors, windows, and flooring. Should be able to identify common material needed for carpentry and painting work. Incumbent may be required to use a variety of hand and power tools and must operate them safely. Carries heavy items to and around work sites. Operates motor vehicles and performs pre-vehicle operation inspection such as fluid levels, lights, brakes, and operational procedures, greasing moving parts, changing oil, fuel and air filters, cleaning and washing vehicles, and minor parts changing repairs. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with previous maintenance experience within a field relating to joinery, fitting, plumbing, painting & decorating etc. You will be a highly motivated individual who can manage your own workflow as well as working within a team when necessary.

As a Maintenance Operative you will be responsible for the Health & Safety of yourself and that of all users of the property during, and after works have been undertaken and completed.

As part of your role, you will be required to purchase and manage materials using a company account card from approved Serco suppliers only. Vehicles provided by the company will be inspected regularly by employees and kept in a professional and clean condition.


Flexible Working pattern


- Mon to Fri 7.5 hours per day between 08:00 and 18:00 to meet the operational needs of the business.


On –Call Requirements & Out of Hours Working

- There will be a requirement to undertake out of hours including weekends on call duties, working on a rota basis to ensure 24/7 emergency cover is provided as per our contractual responsibilities. This will be rotational every three weeks.
