• Serves as Contracting Officer Representative for all transportation contracts, including common carrier, special mode, ambulance, and air ambulance;
• Provides consistent and effective outreach to community transit authorities;
• Coordinates the preparation and submission of recurring monthly, quarterly and annual performance improvement reports, management briefings, summaries, and a wide variety of nonrecurring reports;
• Assures performance measures and standards issued by various accrediting, regulatory, and higher agency authorities;
• Performs the full range of supervisory responsibilities to include but not limited to establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff; observes and evaluates employees' performance; provides advice, counsel, and instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters; hears and resolves minor complaints and grievances; reviews, approves or disapproves leave requests; adjusts work procedures among staff according to workload, etc.;
• Assures that all transportation staff obtains and maintains appropriate licenses, certifications and training appropriate for each position; and,
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Major Duties:

• Maintains the laboratory facilities and equipment, and controls supplies.
• Sets up equipment for all phlebotomy procedures.
• Maintains laboratory stock and orders materials as needed.
• Keeps laboratory in a clean and safe condition.
• Calibrates and maintains instrumentation on timely intervals in order to minimize breakdown and delay of procedures.
• Maintains and controls records.
• Presents data to the supervisor in a logical and systematic fashion.
• Records information pertaining to the storage of specimens or reagents and completes appropriate tracking/inventory system information.
• Performs venipunctures in accordance with facility and laboratory policies and procedures.
• Assures all test tubes are labeled accurately when performing venipunctures using designated patient identifiers.
• Verifies correct patient identification.
• Performs proper specimen handling and labeling, accessions specimens, checks that lab test requests are consistent with physician orders, generates labels, and sorts labeled specimens to be distributed to specific laboratory sections.
• Works closely with computers and medical records systems to accession specimens and retrieve results
• Performs urine drug testing.
• Ensures sand and non-traumatic processes are used with critical concern for the donor and for the quality of the specimen while using standard aseptic procedures and safeguards.
• Controls contaminated or potentially dangerous specimens in accordance to accreditation agency requirements.
• Utilizes phone and face to face communication with all levels of clinical, clerical, and administrative staff as well as patients and families.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

The Assistant Chief/ Residency Co-Director dental officer serves as a practicing dentist who performs a full range of professional dental procedures in connection with the treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems requiring standard corrective, restorative, and/or preventive measures. The incumbent will provide direction and supervision of dental staff and is responsible for dental clinic administration at their assigned location.

The dental officer shall be proficient in all aspects of general dentistry including the ability to perform selected specialty services. The duties of the Assistant Chief/ Residency Co-Director include 70 percent clinical and 30 percent administrative responsibilities. The provider should possess the expertise and competency to perform the following:

• Makes oral and radiographic examinations of the oral cavity. Provide consultation and treatments within the scope of their specific clinical privileges. Providing outpatient, inpatient care for patients eligible for dental care.
• Diagnose pathological or irregular oral conditions.
• Function as the primary clinician or subject matter expert responsible for performing procedures, education and training affecting the daily clinical operations of the subspecialty.
• Administers local anesthesia.
• Periodically examine or evaluate patients to determine need for further dental care.
• Performs routine and complex restoration or extractions of teeth.
• Performs endodontic procedures and surgeries.
• Performs prosthetic dentistry to include immediate dentures, full dentures, partial dentures, crowns, and fixed bridge work.
• Performs complex periodontal procedures and surgeries, including soft and hard tissue grafting, maxillary sinus augmentation, and simple and complex implant surgery.
• Performs dental treatment in the operating room setting with the dental residents.
• The Dental Residency Co-Director coordinates the dental residents' educational activities. This includes overseeing clinical training, ensuring compliance with program requirements, and facilitating opportunities for professional development.
• Helps set up the dental residency program. This includes assisting in the development of curricula, organizing lectures and workshops, and coordinating assessments to evaluate residents' progress.
• Assigns works to subordinates, approves leave, prepares performance plans, administers discipline, resolves grievances and complaints, provides training and awards
• Works with Dental Chief for planning, developing, coordinating, and directing the clinical services of the Dental Department
• Prescribes medications within defined scope of dental practice.
• Orders relative diagnostic studies such as laboratory tests or radiographs.
• Provides education and counseling of patients and families in preventive care, medical conditions, and use of prescribed treatments and drugs.
• Conducts Compensation and Pension (C&P) Exams as requested by Veterans Benefit Administration (VBA) and Regional Office with training and privileges.
• Assist in meeting Performance Measures for clinical dental care.
• Completes all mandatory training requirements timely, attends mandatory medical center committee meetings and complies with computer and privacy directives.
• Coordinates with service leadership to conduct appropriate service recovery attempts with Veterans who express dissatisfaction in the care delivered.
• Initiates Human Resources actions for vacant positions, interviews and selects candidates alongside Dental Chief
  

The Physiatrist must practice only within the scope of his/her training, experience, and
competence. The physiatrist should provide care throughout the full spectrum of
physiatry care and that which represents the prevailing standards of physiatry practice. To
this end, physiatrists should participate in a regular program of continuing education. The
physiatrist will provide care in inpatient physiatry consultation service as well as in outpatient
general physiatry clinic.

Duties for the Physician (Physiatry) include but are not limited to the following:

• Perform general physiatry examinations and ensure communication with the referring providers.
• Orders and perform only those services that are medically indicated. The incumbent will prepare records that include relevant history, physical findings, assessment, and plan of evaluation and treatment.
• Performs therapeutic procedures which can include, but is not limited to; EMG for spasticity, US guided joint injections, trigger point injections, diagnostic EMG.
• Practice independently, using professional judgment and expertise to make decisions about services and treatment provided to veterans and their significant others/family members.
• Consults with the supervisor as needed and with colleagues to develop knowledge and apply agency policies and practices to new matters.
• Uses initiative and resourcefulness in deviating from traditional methods or trends and patterns to develop new methods, criteria, and proposed new policies.
• Must be poised, articulate, adaptive and respectful in communicating with and caring for people of varied educational, ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds.
• The Physiatrist reports to the Chief of Geriatrics and Extended Care Service.
