Discipline Manager-Process Engineering
Position Description
KBR’s global business comprises two main segments – Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) and Government Solutions (GS). This role sits within STS in the Integrated Solutions business unit and is a key leadership role within KBR Engineering Operations.
KBR is looking for a Discipline Manager - Process Engineering.
The applicant should have wide ranging and extensive experience with an emphasis on excellence in team leadership. You will be responsible for managing the process engineering team, recruitment and ensuring projects are supported with resources, managing personnel and supporting projects. The applicant must have and maintain an understanding of the latest technologies and market developments to ensure best practices are implemented throughout projects.
The position is based in KBR’s Leatherhead Campus.
Key Functions
- Responsible for all aspects of engineering activities undertaken in process engineering on proposals, projects and developments.
- Coordinates with other Discipline Department Managers to integrate technology activities with those of other technologies to meet company goals.
- Monitors and adjusts levels of personnel, levels of skills, and development of skills in the technology.
- Implements technology development and training plans for continuous improvement of project execution consistent with company goals.
- Implements project quality control procedures in his/her technology area.

- Reports to the Director of Engineering for process engineering group support.
- Project Engineering Managers
- Coordinates directly Project Engineering Managers on staffing requirements and conduct technical audits.
Responsibilities
Managing a team of process engineers, you will advise, and contribute to the following:
- Providing technology staff for projects and proposals and ensures that adequate personnel resources are available.
- Ensuring adherence to project quality control procedures and approves key documents as required.
- Approving specific design methods and tools to be used on projects.
- Selecting new personnel and develops individuals through direction, counseling, training and selection for specific project activities.
- Maintaining awareness within the organization of developing technologies and related services outside the company and, where appropriate, prepares evaluations and recommendations for their application on projects.
- Ensuring the continued development and application of KBR technology, execution methods and procedures for projects.
- Approving project designs involving state-of-the-art, one-of-a-kind concepts, for severe service or complex technical matters and makes technical policy decisions within his/her technology area.
- Engaging with professional organisations to support personnel and maintain knowledge of developing technologies
Skills / Experience:
Essential
- Experience communicating across a multi-discipline team and across different offices.
- Have an understanding of project safety requirements, international standards and implications on design.
- Have a good understanding of process control and implementation in design.
- Developing presentations and experience communicating with clients, personnel and professional institutions.
- Must be able to drive quality within the process team and ensure high standards are met.
- Experience of delivery on conceptual, pre-FEED, FEED and/or EPC projects.
Desirable
- Experience managing a large team and understanding how to manage personnel.
- Experience training/mentoring younger engineers either informally or through a formal training scheme.
Qualifications:
- BSc degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent
- a relevant number of years' working with a major EPC contractor or operator.
