SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Education Program Manager at National Defense University for the China Aerospace Studies Institute (CASI); support the vision of the CASI Director; develops and evaluates curricula, teaching procedures, and educational materials on Chinese aerospace activities for the Department of the Air Force; directs and conducts formal, informal, and agile education for the National Defense University, the DoD, and other schools as directed; supports research on Chinese aerospace activities; conducts engagement and outreach with external partners in government, industry, and academia; provides direction and leadership to local CASI staff. This research, publishing, agile education, engagement and outreach may include subjects pertaining to Chinese air, missile, space, and cyberspace operations, strategic and operational environment, doctrine, and employment, and other duties as assigned by the CASI Director.

DUTIES:

• Leads, directs, plans, and organizes the academic operations of the China Aerospace Studies Institute at National Defense University.
• Leads Team of analysts to Conduct Academic Research and Develops Written Policy Advice for DoD.
• Serves as the educational advisor on programs that are extremely complex with significant agency, national or international scope and impact.

Responsible for providing a diverse selection of academic, occupational, vocational training, and recreational programs for inmates confined within the institution. Responsible for providing technical support and assistance in all aspects of the education department’s operation

Assists with the maintenance and control of the Education Department records and files and assists with ensuring that all reporting requirements are met.

Responsible for keying education information in the Education Data System (EDS) based on information provided by professional staff.

Records and maintains budgetary data and financial records and is able to provide statistical information to supervisors and staff members.

Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.

• Assists the PNC Branch Director in development of the 52-week Practical Nurse Course Program of Instruction (POI) (curriculum).
• Evaluates existing curriculum to ensure the most updated information is included.
• Recommends approval of substitution of materials to improve content presentation.
• Submits request for procurement of education supplies or equipment.
• Reviews instructional materials (i.e., lesson plans, student handouts, practical exercises, power point presentations, etc.) of novice instructors assigned to the department.

• Assists in the revision of training materials by performing instructional design, development, validation and evaluation based on criteria using the Systems Approach to Training Training (SAT) process.
• Participates in task analysis for determining training requirements.
• Verifies that lesson plans, training materials, and equipment required for training are present, current and operational to teach assigned units of instruction.
• Analyzes and recommends solutions to training and training resource problems.

• Serves as a training and development specialist and works in collaboration and coordination with the FOD Training and Development (TDD) and the Office of Human CapitaI (HCT).
• Provides overall coordination of the District Training Program and work with Regional District and Program management to identify individual and broad-based training requirements.
