Duties encompass administrative aspects for comprehensive support and evaluation of administrative efforts of the VA Loma Linda HCS (VALLHCS).

The VALLHCS Research Program is a large, multifaceted investigator-initiated operation comprised of around 200 active projects funded by federal, private enterprise, non-profit, pharmaceutical sponsors, and academic sponsors. The incumbent performs tasks with several steps or a sequence of tasks that requires attention to work operations. The incumbent follows set procedures in accomplishing repetitive assignments and follows an established sequence of work. Performs any combination of the following:

• Set up buffet/food lines, steam tables, dinning room tables, and side service stands with hot and cold food items including meats, vegetables, salads, desserts, bread, butter and beverages.

The Deputy Network Director (DND) will serve as the alter ego to the Network Director (ND). As such, the DND directs highly complex healthcare delivery programs that involve major policy development of mission essential functions of VHA, which impacts the national economy. The DND oversees day-to-day operations of the VISN to ensuring oversight and integration of the functioning of the medical centers and Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC).

The assigned duties require extensive knowledge of quality assessment, survey instruments and techniques. The incumbent must also have a full understanding of the requirements of various accrediting bodies (e.g. JCAHO, CARF, etc.) as they apply to the different types of facilities and programs within the VISN, such that recommendations to correct deficiencies may be made.
