An opportunity has arisen at Salford Royal Hospital for the appointment of a Locum Consultant Upper GI Surgeon. The successful candidate will join an established team 11 Upper GI / Bariatric Surgeons.

It is proposed that the appointees will provide 10 PAs per week (which will include outpatient clinics, operating theatre lists, and administration). The job plan will be a flexible job plan.

All Consultants will be allocated 1 core SPA per week for professional development (CPD), Job Planning, Appraisal, Mandatory Training, attendance at regular team meetings which will have a clinical governance aspect and participating in Audit.

Additional SPA time will be made available to consultants on the basis of evidenced need. Such allocation will be agreed and subsequently reviewed.

The main role of the post is to work with adult patients with Inherited Metabolic Diseases (IMDs). Many of these diseases are multi-system in nature are treated or managed by specialised diet and supplements. As such all previous dietetic skills and experiences are relevant. Full training in IMDs will be provided. This post will involve close working with the rest of the MDT. There are opportunities for further development and career advancement and to develop specialist areas of practice within IMD.

We are looking for an innovative and self motivated dietitian interested in enhancing and developing their skills to provide dietetic advice and leadership within a nationally commissioned multidisciplinary metabolic team delivering high quality care to patients with Adult Inherited Metabolic Diseases (AIMDs). Main duties include:
Assessing patients with complex, multi-system conditions. Interpreting diet and biochemical data, and providing food and supplement-based diet advice. NB dietary treatment is the cornerstone of treatment for many of these patients

Building a positive long-term relationship with the AIMD patient cohort.

Developing patient engagement with their dietetic management considering needs such as psychological, social, learning and physical disabilities, pregnancy, palliative care, and acute decompensation management.

Contributing to the running and further development of the Adult Inherited Metabolic Service at Salford, supporting clinical research and working with national and international AIMD networks.

An exciting career opportunity has arisen for a Staff Nurse to join our team on the JAG accredited Endoscopy Unit.

The Endoscopy Unit performs a variety of standard and advanced Endoscopic procedures for both out-patients and in-patients including; gastroscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, percutaneous endoscopic gastroscopy (PEG) insertion, oesophageal stenting and ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography). Other specialist work is also undertaken by individual consultants.

Reporting to the Endoscopy Unit Manager you will be responsible for the decontamination of endoscopes, assisting endoscopists in the procedure room, be the patients named nurse acting as their advocate ensuring privacy and dignity throughout the endoscopy journey.

You will be able to demonstrate good leadership skills, be adaptable to a changing environment and possess good written and verbal communication skills. Although experience would be desirable, full training will be given as this is a developmental post which will cover all areas of Endoscopy. Your training needs will be supported by our highly experienced Practice Development Nurse.

Endoscopy experience is highly desirable but not essential.

There will be a need to work flexibly to meet the needs of the Endoscopy service, a commitment to personal/professional development.

The post holder will be expected to deliver education and supervision in practice as well as facilitating formal education and training sessions. There will be a significant focus on quality improvement involvement and service development for the Emergency Department.

You will act as a resource for clinical expertise and maintain clinical skills by undertaking regular 1:1 clinical practice supporting members of the team. You will provide professional, leadership and support and maintain full competence through regular practice.

You will contribute to the quality improvement agenda by contributing to the development of staff groups, undertaking audit and supporting service development.
