What you'll be doing;

• Undertake conceptual and detailed design for energy systems that supply heating, cooling and power to end users and involve a wide range of applications and technologies such as District Heating systems, Energy Centres, HVAC, LTHW, Chilled Water, Air, Water and Geothermal Source Heat Pumps, Low Carbon Heat Network, Steam and CHP.
  
• Carry out energy audits and surveys and identify Energy Conservation Measures (ECM) at potential customer sites. Assessment of existing system configuration and operation at client sites and identify any potential interventions that can improve system efficiency. Embrace technologies to improve performance and sustainability to meet net zero targets.
  
• Leading a project team of multidisciplinary engineers, you will be responsible for significant elements of the mechanical design (e.g. producing P&ID for energy centres and plant rooms; size boilers, pumps and mechanical components) and to coordinate the members of the project team to integrate mechanical designs with electrical/control, process and civil engineering components.
  
• Act as Technical Lead for selected Business Development opportunities through pre-qualification, concept design, internal approval, proposal submission and handover to construction. Ensuring all relevant departments are involved and lead the development for a robust solution and offering.
  
• Act as the Technical Lead on client presentations and be at the forefront of the technical department, showcasing our capabilities from the concept to the chosen solution with key focus on the specific design and challenges.
  
• Prepare tender packages for outline project design for project cost development, working with the construction teams to develop programmes, resourcing, procurement strategies, risks identification and mitigation. Manage internal approval processes for governance and risk mitigation.
  
• Support the Go/NoGo process by quickly assessing the technical and commercial viability of opportunities. Be prepared to make a case for recommending a NoGo and formalise.
  
• Provide and develop technical capability through feasibility studies and option assessment on industrial and building services energy saving measures.
  Develop energy generation / efficiency / distribution solutions in partnership with our clients to meet their needs for resilience, carbon and energy cost savings across a project life cycle.
  
• Build close relationships with trusted suppliers to develop technical solutions and prepare quotations and where necessary challenging scope, costs, timeline and safety track records.
  
• Identify and manage development Project Risks and effectively manage the risk escalation process. Work with Supply Chain and Legal to ensure that our risks are back to back with our partners for delay and performance.
  
• Think outside the normal and be innovative with the solutions to provide differentiators in our offering. Ensure the relevant departments are involved for technical and commercial due diligence on new technologies.
  
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship for junior engineers, promoting a culture of technical excellence and innovation

Mechanical Design Engineer

Opportunity:

As Mechanical Design Engineer you will be bringing customers automation aspirations to life. Working across a variety of industry sectors (predominantly food & beverage and plastic container handling), you will be designing special purpose machinery and working on some truly ground-breaking projects from scratch. These projects range from solutions as a single unit but more often as part of larger / complete turnkey automation solution.

Mechanical Design Engineer Responsibilities:


* Project management incorporating ownership from concept, through design and build to customer sign off.
* Design and development of new and existing components/products incorporating conceptual design and conceptualizing new automation solutions.
* Detailing existing designs, site layout design and associated BoMs.

You:


* Suitably qualified (mechanical engineering degree or equivalent preferred) and/or 3+ years practical experience (preferably with special purpose machinery), with a solid understanding of manufacturing and its processes.

The Role
We seek to recruit the very best support staff to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of our School. This role requires a suitable person to provide a technician service to the Design and Technology Faculty, as directed by the Head of Department. This post-holder will assist students in the D & T classrooms/workshops ensuring that materials required for lessons are efficiently and economically used and properly prepared. They will assist with practical demonstrations and the safe use of machinery and equipment, and supervise and offer guidance to students, including on the safe use of power and hand tool techniques. They will work alongside other members of the department to ensure Health and Safety requirements are observed and adhered to and all resources regularly checked and maintained to a good standard, fit for purpose. This permanent post is for 37 hours per week (full-time), term time only (39 weeks), however, we would consider slightly less hours per week for the right candidate. The term-time salary offered will be Local Government Grade 5, points 11-14, approximately £22,320 to £23,485 (fte £25,979 to £27,334) per annum. Specialising in all aspects of the design and installation of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Water services of buildings nationwide, our client have contracts with large retail stores including John Lewis, Waitrose and Primark.

Responsibilities:
Estimating
- Responsible for preparation and submission of detailed tenders including the request, receipt and checking of sub‐contractor and supplier quotations, preparation of cost sheets, OH&P analysis and formal issuing of tender package to suit required deadlines.
Procurement
- Responsible for the procurement and ordering of all necessary items of plant, equipment, materials and specialist sub contract packages to suit the requirements of the project programme.
Project management
- Responsible for the day to day running of projects as required to ensure that all works proceed in a timely manner and to the highest possible standards of installation and health and safety.
Financial management
- Responsible for the day-to-day cost management of the project(s) to ensure that cost and cash control measures are observed and that projects perform to the requirements of the Directors.

Candidate Attributes:

Seeking a skilled Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineer to design fluid system components, including electro-mechanical valves. Responsibilities include crafting assembly procedures, generating design documents using CAD and finite element analysis, and ensuring a commitment to safety in on-site activities. Collaboration on related projects, such as propulsion systems and rocket engine developments, is essential.

Key Requirements:

Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering (2:1 standard).
Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience in the space industry.
Proven CAD experience: structural analysis skills advantageous.
Familiarity with fluid system test rig design, instrumentation, and LabView is a plus.
Knowledge of aerospace or space product design, manufacture, and testing.
Familiarity with mechanical hardware and test equipment.
