The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) is looking for Research Assistants (RA) for the NSoE Phase II Maritime Sector. The RA will design and conduct experiments on the maritime testbed MariOT, and assist Research Fellows to develop prototypes and tools.

Qualification & Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any area of engineering.
• Demonstrated expertise in C/C++ or Python programming.
• Working knowledge of computer networks.
• Working knowledge of applied cryptography and/or applied machine learning is advantageous.
• Working knowledge in software testing is advantageous.
• Familiarity with shipboard OT systems is advantageous.

Singapore University of Technology and Design immediately invites applications for multiple Research Assistant positions to work in Singapore, in the following areas:

• Robust perception, planning, and control for field robots
• Simultaneous localization and mapping
• Experimental robotics
• Novel mechanism synthesis and analysis
• Electromechanical system design experience is strongly preferred

Your primary responsibilities include:

• Designing and developing reconfigurable robotic platforms to achieve project goals and KPIs (spanning surveillance, maintenance, and payload-carrying robot platforms)
• Implementing and researching specifications for various subsystem components, component analysis, designing for durability, maintainability, and estimating physical constraints required to achieve expected functionality and reconfigurability .
• Have a good understanding of the electrical system of the robot so as to optimize the mechanical designs
• Have a strong understanding of the PCB design and fabrication
• Have a strong understanding of different manufacturing processes and manufacturing constraints
• Designing mounts for onboard sensors and computing equipment with consideration for dust and waterproof requirements
• Simulating using CAD Solidworks for FEA analysis and Keyshot demonstration
• Experience with electrical and electronic components and the use of fabrication and soldering set is strongly preferred
• Able to effectively communicate ideas and take constructive criticism
• Able to effectively work in a multi-disciplinary team and with third-party vendors

The position requires a B.Eng/M.Eng./M.Sc. in Engineering Product Development/Information System/ Mechanical/Electrical and Electronics/Computer Engineering or a related area.

Candidates are expected to possess experience in field robotic systems as evidenced by developmental project experiences/publications. Strong commitment to research and development is essential.

• Respond to emails, phone calls, and in-person inquiries related to Admissions
• Manage scheduled phone calls through Novocall System
• Coordinate and schedule appointments with inquirer
• Attend to walk-in enquiries, and re-direct to other Admissions Officers if needed
• Maintain high standards of customer service and adhere to communication procedures and standard operating guidelines
• Assist in updating frequently asked questions (FAQ) for email enquiries
• Provide logistics support for campus visits and admissions events
• Carry out other duties as assigned
