An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and efficient Exams Officer to join our Exams department.
The successful candidate will be based at our Richard Taunton College site.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed professional to help oversee all our examination processes which will require effective liaison with Exam Boards, students, staff and Senior Management. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in education, preferably in exams, but training will be provided to the right candidate.
Candidates must be flexible, have excellent prioritisation and organisational skills and a keen eye for detail.
A high level of IT proficiency is particularly important, as is a calm and logical demeanour.

Technician / Fishery Studies

Joining a passionate team of lecturers and technical staff, this post offers an exciting opportunity to provide technician and instructional duties within University Centre Sparsholt’s fishery and aquatics provision.
The main requirements of the role will focus on supporting our Aquatic Research and Conservation centre, where we train aquarists of the future. The Facility includes tropical aquaculture systems, research facilities and ornamental marine and freshwater aquaria
There will also be occasional opportunities to provide further support within the Salmonid Rearing and Trials Centre, which includes a salmonid hatchery and on-growing unit, lab and fish processing area, and a trials unit with 72 tanks.
The successful candidate will ideally have a minimum of a Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject, strong practical skills and demonstrable experience in water quality, aquatic husbandry, record keeping and aquatic health monitoring, together with excellent communication skills, a creative and flexible approach and a passion for fish! A current driving licence would be required.
We would also aim to appoint a candidate who in addition to the overseeing the operation of the facilities, can contribute to the education of the next generation of aquarists by providing practical instruction and support to our students and undertake some hours per week as an instructor, hours undertaken as an instructor would be paid at a higher hourly rate.

Server Engineer

This is an exciting role and opportunity to become part of our expanding IT Services Team in a fast-paced and diverse environment. As the server engineer you will work in a third line team of four on a range of equipment and support the 1st line team of 5 technicians with escalations related to the server infrastructure.
What will you be doing?
Installing new hardware and coming up with design solutions for new requirements or to improve \ update existing systems. This will cover windows server 2016 and above, Dell rack servers, Synology NAS storage and VMware and Hyper V.
You will also be carrying out “business as usual” functions such as backups and monitoring and working with the team generally to improve resilience and security.
As the successful candidate you will:
• Ideally have Microsoft Server certifications
• Ideally have a minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role with good trouble shooting skills, technical knowledge and a service driven attitude
• Have strong knowledge with IT trouble shooting (hardware and software) and experience with Server 2016, 2019 & 2022.
• Have proven experience of resolving complex problems.
• Have good communication skills, the ability to work under pressure either in a team or independently.
