The Horsell Village School has an exciting opportunity for a committed Caretaker to join our fantastic team.
We are looking for a Caretaker who is able to work proactively to manage the school site and grounds and ensure that any issues are resolved quickly and efficiently. The successful candidate will be able to undertake minor repairs to a high standard and be able to liaise with contractors when needed. A good understanding of Health and Safety best practice is also desired.
Working Hours
The Caretaker will be on a 52 week contract. Annual leave for the first 2 years is 26 days per annum.
There is some flexibility with the working hours, examples of possible working arrangements are: -
36 hours a week – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 6:30 am to 10:00 am and 2:30 pm to 6:15 pm and Wednesday 6.30 am to 10:00 am and 2:30 pm to 6:00 pmOR
22.5 hours a week – Monday to Friday 6:30 am to 9:00 am and 3:30 pm to 5.30 pm
Salary
The Pay range for this role is SWAN Support 4.2 to 5.2, dependant on experience.
The actual salary will be dependant on the number of working hours and pay grade. As an example,
If you work 36 hours paid at SWAN Support Grade 4.2, your annual salary will be £24,275 (full time equivalent is £24,275)
If you work 22.5 hours paid at SWAN Support Grade 5.2, your annual salary will be £16,735.63 (full time equivalent is £26,777)

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Experience of working as a Caretaker or Site/Premises Manager, or within a similar role.
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Good time management, with ability to prioritise tasks.
THE RIGHT CANDIDATE WILL:
• Demonstrate relevant ‘DIY skills’ in order to carry out minor repairs.
• Demonstrate knowledge of correct moving and handling procedures and be physically able to carry out the physical aspects of the role
• Demonstrate knowledge of Health and Safety relevant to premises management.
• Demonstrate good communication skills.
• Be a team player.
