JOB SUMMARY: Sporting Chance Newport opened in summer 2021 as an independent special day school for young learners between year 7 to year 11 with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and Additional Learning Needs, registered currently for up to 16 pupils The school is located close to the centre of the city of Newport.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:To support the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development of pupils, including contributing ideas and suggestions to support planning, to meet their development needs.Assist the teachers with learning activities ensuring health and safety and good behaviour of pupils. Support the whole class / small groups or individual pupils in accessing learning activities as directed by the teachers to enable pupils’ progress towards their targets. Be aware of and support differences to ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop. To prepare and support the use of learning materials, adapting them as necessary to meet the needs of the designated pupil(s).Contribute to the overall work/aims of the school and appreciate and support the role of colleagues and other professionals to enable the school to fulfil its development plans etc.Motivate and encourage the pupils to have a go at activities they may be unsure of.

Education Multiply Project Co-ordinator – Fixed term until 31st March 2025 (secondment opportunity also possible)

The Education Service is seeking to recruit a Grade 6 Higher Level Teaching Assistant who will work with the service, schools, and families to improve Numeracy skills.
This post holder will also provide direct support to the Assistant Head of Education for Engagement and Learning to deliver the Education Service’s Multiply Project.
We are seeking to recruit an individual to support the co-ordination of projects implemented via fixed term Multiply funding. This post holder will facilitate administration, preparation and co-ordinate assessments using the allocation of grant funding to release teaching assistants (cover costs) who wish to upskill and progress towards acquiring a formal maths qualification. Responsibilities include:
• Collaborate with the Assistant Head of Education for Engagement and Learning to plan and deliver the implementation of the Multiply Project Proposal.
• Increase access to Maths and Numeracy training for adults (school-based staff and parents) in line with the Multiply Project Principles.
• Act as a point of contact for staff engaged in the training offer.
• Support and advise school-based staff in the implementation of Multiply funding allocated to schools to facilitate family learning.
• Represent the LA in attendance at regional events and networking with a wide range of agencies and partners at local level, where required.
• Support the Assistant Head of Education and the identified course provider(s) in co-ordinating the administration, preparation and assessments for each identified course.
• Work with the Assistant Head of Education to evaluate the impact of the project.
• Support the Engagement and Learning Team with other aspect of Family and Community Engagement, as required.
We are seeking to appoint an individual who is educated to HLTA Level or equivalent and has experience of working with children, young people, families and a range of agencies. The successful post holder will be expected to undertake a wide variety of tasks including making visits to schools, providing support, guidance or signposting to further services; maintaining accurate records; and working as part of a busy team.
Possession of a current driver’s licence is a necessary requirement for this post.

PRU Support Assistant Wanted Job Description: Education Supply Pool is currently supporting Monmouth Pupil Referral Service (MPRS). To help recruit a HLTAs or Teacher Assistants in the Monmouth and surrounding areas. Candidates would need a minimum of two years’ experience working with children in school settings or PRU (pupil referral unit). Potentially starting from 8th January 2024. (MPRS) have a few different roles and is tailored to the member of staff’s experience via the head of service. The students are known to have challenging behaviour, has social anxiety/emotionally not well enough for school. These students are often too challenging or too disruptive for mainstream schools. Job expectations could be that the candidate works at the child’s home. The candidate will be working with children that may have been excluded from school, medically can’t be in a school, it could be that they have relocated and no place available in the local school.
There is a potential chance that the PRU Support Assistant could be needed to cover a unit in a high school, i.e. Monmouth Comp. Or it could be that they work at one of their provisions: Hanbury House, Chepstow Old Library, Abergavenny Caerwent, Community Centre
Schedule: Day shift Monday to Friday No weekends

The successful candidate: Minimum of NVQ Level 2, CACHE Level 2, BTEC, BA (Hons) Education or experience working within an education setting 2 Years Experience within a PRU Support Assistant setting. Assist with preparing lessons in all areas of the school curriculum with consideration of varied levels of student abilities. Ability to follow instructions and maintain a positive attitude. Provide simulating activities whilst ensuring hygiene and safety rules. Maintain a supportive and clean classroom environment. Be attentive to the unique needs of each student and be able to identify proper solutions when children encounter issues. Great communication skills to collaborate with other teachers and families when needed.
