The End User Support Senior Engineer is an on site role andwill assist the Team Leader with the development and support of the end user support team, providing desktop support across the trust, and all community sitesin line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and in accordance with appropriate standards.



The post holder will be expected to deliver and maintain end user operational services through the timely resolution of incidents and requests and will act as a point of escalation for more complex end user support issues.



The Trust operates a 7-day per week operational service, and it is expected that the End user Support Team supports these hours. Hence, there is a requirement to work weekends and evenings with the existing IT Service Desk shift system.



The post holder will be expected to take part in an on-call scheme operated via a Rota system,beresponsiblefor the installation and support of IT equipment and softwarein line with established procedures, to support standard operations and the rollout of new projects within the Trust.

The post holder will manage and participate in the support of IT systems and projects having a detailed knowledge of systems and infrastructure required to diagnose and resolve complex integrated technical issues. Provide and receive complex or sensitive information and escalations from junior colleagues as part of the role, using technical abilities to ensure calls are resolved quickly or escalated to the appropriate team or specialist. This applies to both technical issues, complaints and staff disputes. Tocontinually make decisions about technical escalations, reacting to emerging technical situations and dealing with IT issues.Follow standard operating procedures for the progress and resolution of complex calls and provide feedback to customers and technical teams.Plan and organise day to day activities around managing work queues and priorities. There are likely to be times where planned work will need to be adjusted due to variable workload or higher priority calls coming in. Supervision of more junior staff to meet workload demands and appropriate skill mix .Provide training and guidance / shadowing for new starters within the department. To participate in testing of IM&T systems proposed for use within the team or wider organisation as required.

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a Consultant UGI Surgeon with a special interest in bariatric surgery.

Based at the Royal Derby Hospital the UGI department provides a full range of out-patient diagnostic services and inpatient elective operating services for benign, bariatric and malignant disease as well as outpatient clinics and day case sessions. The department provides a full service to patients with Upper GI cancers across Derby-Burton and Bariatric services for the East Midlands, serving Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.

There are currently 9 UGI consultants within the unit, supported by a team of junior doctors, clinical fellows and clinical nurse specialists.

The department has access to a 9 theatre inpatient suite and a 3 theatre Day Case facility. The inpatient theatre suite boasts two fully integrated laparoscopic theatres and the Trust offers Da Vinci Robotic cancer surgery in urology, colorectal, head and neck and UGI/HPB.

The post will be based at Royal Derby Hospital, delivering the full range of outpatient and inpatient services for UGI and bariatric patients, both on site and at outreach clinics. The post holder will also provide emergency general surgery for adults and paediatrics as part of a 1:9 consultant rota, and should have experience in managing general, UGI & paediatric emergencies, including cancer and bariatric emergencies.

We have an exciting opportunity to appoint to a Senior Clinical Fellow in ENT Surgery within University Hospitals of Derby and Burton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, for 6 months from February to August 2025.

The appointee will be actively involved in the running of the ENT unit including participating in ward rounds, theatre lists, day case lists and outpatient clinics, as well as providing support for the Consultants, SAS Doctors and junior medical team.

The General Surgery Department at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton has a exciting opportunity for an LED F2 or Junior Clinical Fellow (CT equivalent) in General & Vascular Surgery to join the department for 4 months from December 2024 and 3 months from January 2025.

The General Surgery Department is very busy with high throughput of both elective and emergency patients. Successful candidates can gain experience in UGI and/or vascular surgery, will be expected to support the team with ward rounds, as well as gaining experience in theatre and be part of the General Surgery F2/CT emergency rota.. Whilst it is not a recognised training post, this post is well supervised and there are opportunities to learn and develop skills.

Based at the Royal Derby Hospital the department provides a full range of inpatient elective & non-elective operating services, outpatient clinics & day case sessions.

Applicants should have completed foundation training and ideally have experience of working in breast surgery. Possession of the MBBS, plus full GMC registration with Licence to Practice at the time of application is essential.

The elective work involves daily ward rounds, time-tabled sessions for day case, theatre and outpatient clinics. Whilst it is not a recognised training post, this post is well supervised and there are opportunities to learn and develop skills.

You will be joining a friendly and supportive Rheumatology Departments which provides comprehensive Rheumatology services for Derby and Burton together with South Derbyshire/ East Staffordshire & some parts of adjoining areas of Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire. There is dedicated therapy team and CNS team supporting consultants. There is a well thought of undergraduate and post graduate training programmes with plenty of opportunity to get involved in teaching. An opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Craftsperson to work within our Estates Services team

You will be required to undertake reactive & planned maintenance and installation work across site, maintain high technical standards of workmanship and ensure compliance with all statutory requirements by action and advice as necessary.

Experienced in all types of building maintenance, you will have proven knowledge of health and safety, good communication skills and remain calm under pressure.

As part of the Estates team you will also be required to participate in an on-call rota outside normal working hours, additional payments will be made for this.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Business Unit Accountant to join our Finance team within the Surgery Division here at University Hospital of Derby and Burton. This is an ideal opportunity for individuals working towards an accountancy qualification who are looking for development in a large Acute Trust. The department offers excellent development opportunities to build and enhance skills.

The role will support the Business Unit Accountants across the division, you will assist the team in providing comprehensive financial support to our wide range of clinical and non-clinical services.

The Finance team have a hybrid working arrangement of a minimum of two days based in the office at the Royal Derby and Queen's Hospital Burton sites, and the ability to book additional days if required on either site.

The main responsibilities will be to produce accurate and timely monthly statements and to assist the Business Unit Accountant in investigating and explaining financial variances. You would be expected to work autonomously to understand the drivers of the variances, presenting them to clinical and non-clinical staff. Whilst actively seeking solutions and escalating those issues accordingly. This knowledge will be gained through regular meetings with budget holders working in clinical and nonclinical areas, which is key to the role.

Forecasting is an integral part of this role and you would be responsible for populating and presenting this to the Business Unit Accountant on a monthly basis.

Budget Setting is an annual process for this role, supporting the Business Unit accountant to determine the budget for the following year. Team work is essential in this role and when necessary to cover and support colleagues. Excellent people skills are a requirement when working with both finance and non-finance colleagues across the organisation.

The successful candidate needs to be hard working and dependable, have excellent communication and organisational skills and be able prioritise own workload to achieve deadlines. Also needs to be computer literate with a good working knowledge of Excel. A proven history of working in a Financial Management setting is essential

A Vacancy at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.


We are looking to appoint a Clinical Fellow in Intensive Care Medicine with a specific interest in the use of echocardiography and ultrasound in critically ill patients. It is a 12 month fixed term post with duties at the Royal Derby Hospital.

The job will help fill the knowledge and experience gap that many trainees and clinicians have in using echocardiography and ultrasound on ICU. It is anticipated that fellows who complete a year would be able to apply for FICE accreditation, gain considerable experience in teaching and supervising both TTE and TOE, publish research in this area and have a working knowledge of the use of focused ultrasound in critically ill patients.

The appointee will work on the ICU with a 1:8 on call. This post offers the appointee the opportunity to gain experience in TTE, TOE, lung and focused abdominal ultrasound, No previous experience in these areas is required. Once trained, the appointee will also use the simulator to run teaching sessions and help deliver our accredited echo course. TOE is gradually being introduced into the anaesthetic service and the fellow would be expected to help expand this role.

The ICU work closely with the cardiology department and the appointee will be offered the opportunity to attend and contribute to the monthly joint ECHO meeting and to work with echo technicians in the department. If the appointee wishes to obtain full BSE accreditation, they will be able to join the training program run by the department of clinical measurement whilst they are in this post.

We have several audit and research projects that the appointee could contribute to.

It will be possible to incorporate some anaesthetic sessions if the appointee wishes.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant Haematologist , to join our friendly and enthusiastic team at UHDB. This is an 11-PA replacement post joining a team of 11 consultants overall.

In-patient therapies are provided on a dedicated, 18 bedded, haematology ward, providing BCSH level 2b care, including induction treatment and salvage therapies for high grade lymphomas. We have our own Acute Unit for unwell patients (CTAU) run by advanced clinical practitioners with medical supervision and shared with Oncology. Our department currently accommodates 4 specialist Registrars from the East Midlands Deanery and 3 specialty Doctors. We have also an established teaching program for medical students from the University of Nottingham and overseas.

Currently, there is liaison with the regional transplant centre in Nottingham for autologous stem cell transplant, and Birmingham QE Hospital for CAR-T therapy. Part of our 5-year plan is to establish our own autologous transplant and cellular therapies program. An interest or previous experience in transplant and cellular therapies would be desirable although not essential for this role. The apppointee will have the opportunity to shape the future of the growing haematology service. This is an exciting time in the evolution of haematology care at UHDB and we would be pleased to hear from any candidate wishing to consider this role and discuss ours and their vision for this.

We are looking to recruit a Medical Examiner Officer to support and develop the Medical Examiner Service, which is based at the Queen’s Hospital Burton site and the Royal Derby hospital site.

You will have highly developed communication and organisational skills which will have been obtained by working in bereavement, clinical or similar role which will predominately support the Medical Examiner in the scrutiny of deaths which occur in the hospital. An excellent understanding of medical terminology and the death certification process is essential.

You will be providing a professional, sensitive and compassionate service, dealing with bereaved relatives and aggrieved callers and be exposed to distressing and emotive situations. The role will require working closely with clinical and non-clinical staff, the Medical Examiners, Bereavement Office, and the Coroner’s Office. The role is primarily based at the Royal Derby Hospital, but you will be expected to work flexibly between sites as the service requires.

Advanced IT and literacy skills and experience of using a range of IT applications will be required. Applicants will be required to have completed the Medical Examiner Officer Core e-Learning modules prior to appointment.
