This role is a full-time contract with shift patterns Monday to Friday, and a rotational Saturday rota. The successful candidate will provide high quality, expert advice and support with regards to all aspects of investigations and treatments within assisted conception, providing clinical leadership and management support within the speciality of Reproductive Medicine. We are looking to appoint a locum consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon with an interest in trauma surgery to commence as soon as possible for a period of 6-12 months with potential to extend. This post is to facilitate one of our consultants coming off the adult on-call rota to take up a regional training role.

The successful candidate will predominantly carry out trauma surgery including complex trauma of the upper and lower limbs that presents to a busy major trauma centre such as UHCW. The candidate will join the general adult on-call rota. This will comprise being on-call 1:16 weekdays and 1:8 weekends.

Applicants should ideally have fellowship training in trauma surgery and experience of working in the UK major trauma system. If the successful candidate has an elective orthopaedic interest, attempts will be made to facilitate clinic and operating space for this interest if it fits with the needs of the department, we currently have a requirement for lower limb arthroplasty surgery.

Fracture clinics are supported by consultants, associate specialists and specialty registrars. Other duties will include cover of specialist trauma lists for the management of complex periarticular injuries and open fractures in conjunction with our team of plastic surgeons. As a Major Trauma Acute Coordinator you will be responsible for holistic patient care and coordination, supporting patients and their relatives throughout the hospital admission. The Major Trauma Service oversees the patient pathway from both the emergency department and transfers in from other hospitals through to hospital discharge and the early phase of rehabilitation.

This post is ideal for an enthusiastic clinician who wishes to broaden their trauma knowledge and work in a experienced diverse multidisciplinary team. This post forms part of a 7-day working roster so the successful candidate will be required to work weekend shifts on a regular basis.

7. Work in conjunction with the Major Trauma rehabilitation coordinators to ensure that all patients’ rehabilitation needs are assessed and met at the appropriate stage of their recovery and a rehabilitation prescription completed as required. This post is for a Rotational Occupational Therapist at UHCW NHS Trust, the rotations are for 6 months and provide opportunities for staff to consolidate theory into practice and to develop core skills in a variety of clinical settings. These include inpatients, outpatients, emergency departments and the discharge team.

UHCW’S Level III Neonatal Unitprovides a wide range of services to sick newborn babies and forms part of the West Midlands Perinatal Network . The unit strives to provides family centered care to a range of babies from those born extremely prematurely around 22 weeks gestation to term babies who are sick at birth. We offer therapies such as Nitric Oxide, Cooling and ROP laser surgery using state of the art, new equipment.

UHCW neonatal unit looks after up to 8 Intensive care cots, 8 High dependency cots, 14 Special care cots and 6 Transitional care cots. We have a LMNS Outreach service and a wellbeing counselling service for families and staff. The unit has been accredited as the first level 3 Neonatal unit in the area as Baby Friendly by Unicef for the excellent practice in the support of infant feeding and parent-infant relationships. We have also been awarded our Bronze Bliss award. In our last CQC inspection (2018) UHCW was rated as good.

Over the years the unit has built an excellent reputation for high quality healthcare and outstanding career development. Radiology Physics provides clinical and non-clinical scientific and technical services in diagnostic radiology physics and the ionising radiation protection of patients, staff and the general public to the Trust and to client health care organisations throughout the region.

The post holder will provide expert scientific and technical advice, as a Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA) and Medical Physics Expert (MPE), to ensure that NHS Trusts and other organisations can meet their statutory obligations.

The post holder will also be the lead expert in all aspects of the Radiology Physics equipment and quality control programme. They will design, maintain and manage a comprehensive independent commissioning, quality assurance and calibration programme for all ionising radiation equipment throughout the region. Radiation protection
1. Provide expert scientific and technical advice in the areas of RPA and MPE support, and proactively to contribute to formulating departmental policy and management of the routine service.

The service is a community based interdisciplinary therapy team, who support the timely discharge of patients from hospital. Our patients have ongoing rehabilitation or neuro management needs following a new or worsening presentation of a neurological condition, both stroke, and non-stroke.

As part of the continued development of services an opportunity has arisen for a Locum Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with special interest in Head and Neck Surgery and Microvascular Surgery to support the existing head and neck microvascular team at the University Hospitals Coventry

The head and and neck service at UHCW NHS Trust provides microvascular support to patients from both Coventry and Warwickshire as well as Worcestershire serving a population of approximately 1.5 million.

Whilst the post is designed for an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon with a subspecialty interest inHead and Neck Surgery and Microvascular Surgery, the successful candidate will form part of ateam of consultants providing a comprehensive service to the populations of Coventry, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.

The majority of the successful candidate’s clinical sessions are likely to be at UHCW and its satellite clinics in Rugby, Nuneaton or Warwick.

The post holder will be expected to work flexibly with colleagues from both Maxillofacial Surgery and ENT Surgery to provide a comprehensive Oral & Maxillofacial and Head and Neck Service between the various trusts.

On call duties are under review. Specifically the successful candidate will be expected to support the already established microvascular reconstructive service and it’s on call rota (1:3 moving to 1:4 in 2025) and in addition will also be an integral team member in the busy head and neck surgical service. In addition, there will be opportunities to develop interests which complement the current team.

Clinical

Provide and develop, with clinical colleagues, an integrated Head and Neck service for theTrust. This may involve all disciplines including primary and tertiary care.

Participate in the structural development of the Head and Neck service, treatment protocolsand guidelines and extend knowledge in the management of Head and Neck conditions.

Provide a consultation and advisory service to clinical colleagues in other specialties within the Trust and Primary Care.

Work with other members of the Maxillofacial team to provide a comprehensive general surgicalservice to the Trust, Primary Care Trusts and General Practitioners.

Participate in the Maxillofacial on-call rota with consultant colleagues to ensure thatappropriate emergency services are provided out-of-normal working hours.

Take ongoing responsibility for patients under his/her care.

Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with medical colleagues in otherspecialties and participate in regular clinical meetings and other post graduate activities.

Develop and maintain good communications with General Practitioners and appropriate externalagencies.

Take responsibility for the professional supervision and development of trainee doctors within thespecialty. This will include the appraisal of SHOs and SpRs.

Demonstrate a firm involvement in Clinical Governance, Risk Management and Clinical Audit –this will include the development and maintenance of appropriate systems and practices toensure continued safe clinical practice.

Ensure own practice is up-to-date; this will include taking responsibility for own ClinicalProfessional Development and participating in the Trust’s Performance and Annual Reviewsystem and be responsible for ensuring that they support the principles of revalidation bythe General Medical Council.

Share responsibility for data protection arising out of the use of computers.

Research

he Trust welcomes and encourages research as a high profile activity that compliments the service provided. The speciality recognises that high quality research is an integral part ofdevelopment and quality care, and undertakes to support and encourage such activities whereverpossible.

The Trust offers state of the art facilities in research and development. It houses the WarwickMedical School’s Clinical Sciences Research Institute (CSRI), bringing together scientists,clinicians and epidemiologists to study disease mechanisms in vivo and in vitro. UHCW also hassix well-equipped Patient Research Interface (PRI) suites for patient-based research. The Trusthouses the latest clinical imaging equipment and is one of the first completely digital hospitals inthe UK. It has recently installed a PET-CT and three MRI scanners which are also available forclinical research. The Research & Development Team is responsible for facilitating research and supporting all researchers within the Trust with the ultimate aim of improving patient care. Researchers can access support with completing grant applications; finding appropriate funding streams, with editing or proof-reading grants and developing strong grant proposals.

Clinical Audit and Governance

The Trust is committed to providing patient care of the highest quality. Job plans are constructed to allow practical sessional commitment for medical audit, clinical governance and continuing medical education. The post holder will be required to participate in clinical audit activities including clinical audit meetings.

The post holder will have an objective team approach to and participation in the specialties efforts to monitor and improve standards and critical incident whilst actively supporting evidence-based guideline implementation.

Teaching

Formal training in teaching and providing feedback will be advantageous.

The post holder will be expected to support the educational development of trainees in the department, which includes DCT and SPR in OMFS, including through being an assigned educational supervisor.

Education and Training within the Trust

The Medical Education Team is responsible for ensuring the delivery of the undergraduate and postgraduate training programmes and they are supported by an administrative team based on site in the Clinical Sciences Building (CSB).

The Trust supports a network of specialty Chairs and research fellows as well as a team of Clinical Teaching fellows responsible for providing educational leadership. Each specialty has identified an Educational lead for both postgraduate and undergraduate teaching and these individuals oversee the work of the Educational supervisors. The activities of these staff are coordinated through a management system which reports through the Medical Director to the Board.

The Trust has invested in first class teaching facilities including the CSB and 45 near ward teaching/seminar rooms. Other facilities include a clinical skills teaching wing and suite (with a Simulator centre), an anatomy and surgical teaching facility, teaching links from the theatres and endoscopy suite to the CSB and a first class Library. Working within a dynamic team of highly skilled individuals in a Service Desk environment to provide First Line technical support and exceptional levels of Customer Service. (9) Assist in the operation of networked computer systems including system shutdown and startup procedures.
