Thick and Thin Film Job Description
This position is responsible for screen printing multiple conductive or resistive patterns and dielectric layers onto ceramic substrates, in accordance with drawings, specs, and procedures, using screen printing equipment in a safe and efficient manner, maintaining high quality workmanship standards, while working in a team oriented environment.
Position requires cross training across multiple processes and a commitment to safety, careful handling of hazardous material, and ESD handling procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Guide, assist, and mentor process technicians and manufacturing technicians.
- Define Out-of-Control Action Plans enabling the on-shift sustaining team to resolve issues.
- Provide effective pass-downs to support uninterrupted operation for Thick and Thin Film Deposition activities.
- Partner with Engineering to help ensure effective new products and process introductions as well as consistent device performance and quality.
- Analyze metrology results and disposition lots based on data and pass/fail criteria.
- Report and summarize results from the metrology analysis.
- Partner with equipment engineering, operation, and management to improve cycle time, tool availability, quality and product yields.
- Using Document Control, Process Work Instructions, and Manufacturing Execution Systems, preserve working knowledge of all codes and standards applicable to assigned production equipment.
- Assure that the manufactured products conform to specifications and application requirements.
- Partner with Engineering team and management to resolve deviations or technical issues by establishing a list of hypotheses, defining the experiment to validate or invalidate hypothesis, identify root-causes, implement corrective actions, document improved process, and train operations.
Production Process List:
- Cleans and preps substrates.
- Prepares screens and sets up for work order.
- Adjusts, aligns, and operates screen print machine according to standard procedures to meet specifications on drawings.
- Prints test samples, inspects, and seeks approval before continuing with the balance of run.
- Fires printed ceramics in tunnel furnace according to established procedures.
- Works with Thick Film Process Engineer to resolve process/equipment problems.
- Tests and inspects for workmanship standards as established by procedures.
- Verifies and signs off on step-by-step processes listed on travelers (M. O’s).
- Maintains an organized work area.
- Cleans and maintains printers and screens as required, including preventive maintenance.
- Uses profilometer to measure thick film depth.
- Performs computer driven Resistor trimming, using a laser, after equipment is setup and programmed, as required.

- High School diploma or equivalent (GED), technical training/certification preferred.
- 1-2 years of previous/related experience in the use of electrical equipment - Must have knowledge of power products.
- Fault Isolation, Manual Testing and Automatic Testing on power SSPC devices
- Must have good eye-hand coordination to use small hand tools.
- Must have good working knowledge of computers, and good knowledge of basic math.
- Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out written/oral/diagram form instructions and be able to deal with problems with concrete variables.
- Must be able to read and interpret specifications and drawings.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to transition as needed to stand/walk/climb or balance/stoop, bend, kneel or crouch/talk or hear; will frequently use hands to finger to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, must be able to lift up to 10 lbs. safely.
- VISION Requirements: must be able to distinguish and identify colors, have peripheral vision and 3D depth perception (vision with ability to judge distances and spatial relationships) with the ability to adjust focus throughout
- WORK ENVIRONMENT: will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts and be in contact with moving mechanical equipment/parts; Ability to tolerate a moderate noise level environment (business office environment, light traffic)

$35,090.00-$46,970.000
