What skills and experience we're looking for
This new arm of our school service, the Behaviour and Outreach team, has been created in response to the AP and SEN improvement plan.
The aim of the team is to ensure successful reintegration of pupils into the mainstream who have completed placements in our Outstanding Alternative provision school the ContinU Plus Academy (CPA). The Outreach Lead will be a member of the School’s Leadership team and be responsible for a team of two other newly appointed staff.
You will be part of a service that supports mainstream settings to deliver quality teaching and timely interventions that improves outcomes for vulnerable children and young people with behaviour challenges.
You will work in a multi-professional way in partnership with our Local authority, Feeder schools and linked professionals/agencies. You will offer a program of services within mainstream schools to effectively support reintegration of pupil’s post CPA referral. The role is vital to the development of our school’s offer and you will lead on building positive parenting links in addition to working with mainstream school.
Our ultimate aim is to reduce exclusions across Worcestershire and improve the quality of the service Alternative Provisions offer.
Our aim is to improve outcomes and reduce suspensions and permanent exclusions for children and young people.
Main purpose of the job
• To work across the educational settings within Worcestershire to improve the reintegration offer for pupils who have accessed the CPA.
• To improve teaching and learning for students who present classroom challenges within the mainstream environment.
• To provide resources for students with SEMH needs or who are at risk of exclusion
• To deliver training for school staff across settings in Worcestershire to develop the understanding and skills involved in successfully teaching SEMH/SEN pupils.
• To support a caseload of pupils with SEMH needs or behavioural challenges, providing mentoring to support reintegration.
• To develop and maintain effective networks across key staff in schools with responsibilities for behaviour and inclusion to enable the effective embedding of good practice and broadening of capacity in local schools.
• Facilitate the work of school-to-school support to build capacity and raise standards, by developing a Behaviour and Inclusion network to allow good practice to be shared across Lambeth.
• To deliver a behaviour CPD program for school staff and work collaboratively with the school support services
• Undertake evaluation of behaviour policies in schools and teacher performance with senior leaders of schools.

• A proven knowledge of equal opportunities and inclusion policies as they affect pupils and their families
• Knowledge and understanding of the nature and effects of racial and economic disadvantage and inner-city deprivation and the ability to develop appropriate responses to the arising needs

• Experience of analysing data to inform operational procedures
• Experience of coordinating interventions for students with SEMH needs or at risk of exclusion
• Practical working experience of developing and providing training to teachers and school staff
• Proven teaching experience of raising standards leading to good outcomes for pupils.
• Ability to plan, prioritise and manage delivery of varied workloads to agreed standards, whilst carrying an individual caseload, without direct supervision
• Experience of working in a situation where different agencies and disciplines have been required to work together collaboratively.
• Experience of developing strategic plans to improve outcomes within an educational setting and drafting SEN and / or behaviour policies
