We are seeking a Higher Level Teacher Assistant (HLTA) to join our dedicated and supportive team at Penbridge School.

The successful candidate will cover classes for teachers across both of our schools for PPA and when teachers are on training.You will work with class teachers to raise the learning and attainment of pupils, promoting pupils’ independence, self-esteem and social inclusion. West Hill Primary Academy are looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant (Associate Teacher) to join their staff on a fixed term contract until 31 August 2025.

The working hours are 8.30am - 3.30pm ,Thursday and Friday. The salary is £22,071 full time equivalent within the Kent Range, actual pro rata salary of £16,392.68 based on 32.5 hours per week, 38 weeks per year.

We require Assistant Teachers with a varied skill set and welcome applications from candidates who have a secure knowledge base in either English, Mathematics or Science.

Previous experience working in a school setting or experience working/volunteering with young people age 11-18 would be desirable.

You will be responsible in assisting in students personal development by:

You will work with the teaching staff to enable students to learn effectively and supervise lessons where cover is required due to staff absence.

We offer a unique opportunity for gifted and enthusiastic individuals to spend up to two academic years in the school and classroom environment, gaining a breadth of experience working with students and contributing to the extra-curricular activities within the school.This post is offered as a fixed term contract until August 2026 in the first instance.

You will provide daily cover for absent subject teachers and work as a Teaching Assistant alongside lead teachers in supporting the learning of all students, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and assist in the delivery of extra-curricular activities such as Sport, and / or Performing Arts.

The successful candidate will have a proven ability to relate well to both children and adults, be able to work constructively as part of a team, have a willingness to gain experience of classroom practice having a genuine interest in working with young people. This post may be attractive to those looking to follow a career into teaching or newly qualified teachers without a current position especially in the areas of PE, Performing Arts, English, Maths, Science and Humanities.
