Are you a social work professional with an interest in children's mental health?

With a County wide remit you will provide support, guidance, advice and direction to children’s social care services in relation to children’s mental health. Being the interface between children’s social care and children’s mental health services to promote a joined-up approach to working with children where there are mental health concerns.

You'll also work with commissioners within children’s social care and health to assist with the procurement of services, particularly in relation to joint responsibilities under the Mental Health Act (1983/2007) Section 117 aftercare. Combining health and social models of intervention is more likely to promote resilience and recovery for vulnerable children.

A key function of this role is to challenge dominant medical perspectives of mental health and ensure that children’s social work issues and themes are considered by mental health services in their work with children.

You'll provide training and guidance across children’s services to deliver practice improvement and be responsive to local and national developments. Undertaking the role of an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) on behalf of Staffordshire County Council ensuring that the wider AMHP service is supported with matters involving AMHP assessments of children. As well as mentoring and supervision of a small number of AMHP's employed in children's services.

You'll also:

• provide professional guidance and support to practitioners and managers with case work and promoting enhanced knowledge and skills in relation to children's mental health.
• maintain local processes for the interface between the Emotional Well-Being Service, Community CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) teams and the Children and Families service.
• deliver mental health training in order to enhance the knowledge base and skills of Children and Families teams.
• update staff within Staffordshire Health Care Trust(s) with relevant children’s social care developments, practice and policies in order to promote their understanding of children’s social care.
• act as a professional lead and represent the Children and Families service at various National and strategic mental health forums. Working with senior managers on local, regional and national opportunities for improvement across the children’s mental health sector. This will include contributing towards new and developing initiatives across Staffordshire
• Take responsibility for maintaining a database of all Staffordshire children admitted and discharged from inpatient services and produce reports to Strategic Leads in order to understand the local population of children cared for through inpatient settings
• undertake Mental Health Act Assessments x 2 days per working month, in line with AMHP duties on behalf of Staffordshire County Council. To support AMPH’s across Staffordshire to develop their understanding of the children’s perspective

You'll be a qualified Social Worker and have additional professional qualifications that evidence skills and knowledge in working with or mentoring others as well as:

• an approved mental health practitioner, AMHP and be registered with Social Work England.
• experience of working at a senior level in a local authority.
• have good knowledge of relevant legislation in respect of children's social care and mental health.
• the ability to lead service change and improvements and be able to quickly build and maintain strong and credible stakeholder relationships.
• excellent communication skills and be able to promote learning and wok collaboratively in a complex field of practice in order to promote shared learning and joint working.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work within the brand new specialist Kinship Supervision and Permanence Support Team!

Here at Staffordshire we recognise the need for specialist Kinship support, our brand new team will boost our provision and provides a fantastic opportunity to provide nurture, support and supervision working creatively to ensure children remain within the family and friends network.

Our new Kinship Supervision and Permanence team will provide:

• supervision and support to kinship foster carers across the county following their approval from panel, this can include families where there are additional support needs.
• provide more directive support to kinship foster carers with a focus on alleviating any barriers progressing to a permanence route which best suits their family life, but most importantly is in a child’s best interest.
• to progress the Special Guardianship (SGO) report for Court, including the SGO support plan, and manage Court proceedings to conclusion where the care plan for the child in their care is Special Guardianship
• once an SGO is granted they will support the transition from this team to the Special Guardianship Post Order Support Team.

This is a county wide team based in Stafford. You will be undertaking visits to families in a range of areas as such a mixture of home and office working is promoted.

As an supervising social worker, you will:

• undertaking regular supervision, support, and unannounced visits to a variety of approved kinship foster carers
• also undertake fostering assessments in relation to changes of approval and foster carer annual reviews and Special Guardianship reports for Court
• close liaison is maintained with children’s teams and others involved in the team around fostered children to ensure good outcomes for children.

As part of this dynamic service you will be involved in Smarter working practices in order to continuously strive for best practice, offering positive experiences for applicants whilst providing high quality reports.

You will have access to Fostering Training and will work closely with the SGO Post Order Support Team as well as other Fostering and Kinship Teams across the service.

You will:

• be a Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England with ideally 2 year's experience
• be able to demonstrate an understanding of the Fostering National Minimum Standards / Fostering Regulations / Special Guardianship Regulations.
• have excellent report writing and communication skills
• be highly organised and able to manage a busy workload in order to meet deadlines.
• be able to work as part of our team and the wider service, whilst having the initiative and confidence to work autonomously when required.
• have experience in a wide range of aspects of the social work role

Our Children's Social Care Commissioning team have a focus on ensuring children and young people have access to support to meet their needs, and provided with the opportunity to achieve their potential.

Our Family Hubs are a local support centre for families with children and young people aged 0-19 years, (aged 25 with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)).

They are a place:

• to get help, information, advice, guidance and support to overcome difficulties and build stronger relationships.

Please note : You'll be based in the Stafford Family Hub, however you will be required to cover any of the other sites across the south of Staffordshire in the event of holidays or sickness so you will need to be able to travel throughout the county when needed.

As our Countryside Ecologist, you’ll bring expert ecological guidance to support the management of Cannock Chase, country parks, and other natural spaces. You’ll be hands-on managing habitat restoration, conservation projects, and the reintroduction of grazing initiatives for a internationally important heathland, whilst ensuring compliance with relevant local and national legislation.

You’ll work across Staffordshire and as part of with a passionate team to lead habitat conservation projects and Countryside Stewardship schemes, forge partnerships, and inspire local volunteers, while ensuring compliance with environmental standards and legislation.

You will also:

• Lead the ecological management of habitats and species across Staffordshire’s countryside estate.
• Lead on reviewing and developing conservation grazing projects.
• Develop and manage projects, including species recovery, habitats and legal compliance.
• manage grants and environmental schemes, from applications to reporting compliance.
• Collaborate with county environmental specialists, statutory agencies, and local stakeholders; including public consultation activities.
• Supervise and empower volunteers, fostering a positive culture for conservation and community engagement.

What You’ll Bring:

• A degree or equivalent experience in ecology or a related field.
• Strong background in habitat management, conservation methods, and biodiversity legislation.
• Practical skills in contract management, GIS, and public engagement.
• Physical fitness to work outdoors across all seasons and a full driving license.

As a Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) Team Leader you will:

Are you a social work professional with an interest in children's mental health?

With a County wide remit you will provide support, guidance, advice and direction to children’s social care services in relation to children’s mental health. Being the interface between children’s social care and children’s mental health services to promote a joined-up approach to working with children where there are mental health concerns.

You'll also work with commissioners within children’s social care and health to assist with the procurement of services, particularly in relation to joint responsibilities under the Mental Health Act (1983/2007) Section 117 aftercare. Combining health and social models of intervention is more likely to promote resilience and recovery for vulnerable children.

A key function of this role is to challenge dominant medical perspectives of mental health and ensure that children’s social work issues and themes are considered by mental health services in their work with children.

You'll provide training and guidance across children’s services to deliver practice improvement and be responsive to local and national developments. Undertaking the role of an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) on behalf of Staffordshire County Council ensuring that the wider AMHP service is supported with matters involving AMHP assessments of children. As well as mentoring and supervision of a small number of AMHP's employed in children's services.

• maintain local processes for the interface between the Emotional Well-Being Service, Community CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) teams and the Children and Families service.
• deliver mental health training in order to enhance the knowledge base and skills of Children and Families teams.
• update staff within Staffordshire Health Care Trust(s) with relevant children’s social care developments, practice and policies in order to promote their understanding of children’s social care.
• act as a professional lead and represent the Children and Families service at various National and strategic mental health forums. Working with senior managers on local, regional and national opportunities for improvement across the children’s mental health sector. This will include contributing towards new and developing initiatives across Staffordshire
• Take responsibility for maintaining a database of all Staffordshire children admitted and discharged from inpatient services and produce reports to Strategic Leads in order to understand the local population of children cared for through inpatient settings
• undertake Mental Health Act Assessments x 2 days per working month, in line with AMHP duties on behalf of Staffordshire County Council. To support AMPH’s across Staffordshire to develop their understanding of the children’s perspective

You'll be a qualified Social Worker and have additional professional qualifications that evidence skills and knowledge in working with or mentoring others as well as:

• an approved mental health practitioner, AMHP and be registered with Social Work England.
• experience of working at a senior level in a local authority.
• have good knowledge of relevant legislation in respect of children's social care and mental health.
• the ability to lead service change and improvements and be able to quickly build and maintain strong and credible stakeholder relationships.
• excellent communication skills and be able to promote learning and wok collaboratively in a complex field of practice in order to promote shared learning and joint working.
