About the Role:
Are you passionate about the future of fusion energy and eager to contribute to groundbreaking projects? UKAEA is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our Building & Facilities Management Department. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in supporting the delivery of cost-effective operations and maintenance for our facilities, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
* Procurement Assistance:
* Support tender submissions and work streams to ensure compliance with Government procurement regulations, under the guidance of the Procurement team.
* Examine and verify baseline budget information for projects and maintenance tasks.
* Assist in responding to queries from prospective contractors and suppliers.
* Pre-Contract Estimating:
* Maintain and manage the contract database and material suppliers database.
* Assess tender documents to ensure sufficient information is available for accurate tender preparation.
* Take off quantities, prepare costings, and issue contract and material supply enquiries.
* Price buildings, civil engineering projects, and maintenance tasks, and conduct post-tender negotiations.
* Post-Contract Quantity Surveying:
* Maintain and advise on contract documentation and matters related to pre-tender and post-contract phases.
* Prepare and issue contractual correspondence to clients and sub-contractors.
* Liaise with clients, the design team, and manage material procurement.
* Handle sub-contract negotiations, interim valuations, site measurements, and variations.
* Prepare and submit project final accounts and support the agreement of final accounts.
Qualifications:
* Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
* Minimum of two years' relevant experience in construction, engineering, or facilities management.
* Proven ability to manage internal and external stakeholders effectively.
* Working knowledge of construction techniques and materials.

This role could see you join the Communications team, which is integrated, hard-working, warm, and welcoming, and growing! The Communications team resides under the Business Development and Innovation division.

The Creative Media Production Assistant supports the delivery of high-quality video and photographic content across the UKAEA, working closely with all departments to assist in the execution of the organisation's communication strategies. This entry-level role focuses on video editing and studio management, offering opportunities for skill development in videography and photography.

Key Responsibilities:

Video Editing: Edit video content to a high standard using the Adobe suite, ensuring alignment with project goals and internal brand guidelines.
Technical Assistance: Assist in setting up and dismantling technical equipment for photo and video shoots both on-site and on location. Work alongside the in-house photographer and videographer, providing support during shoots.
Studio and Equipment Maintenance: Keep the studio organised and ensure all equipment is in working order, ready to use, and properly stored after use.
Project and File Management: Organise, name, and back-up creative project files systematically. Ensure that the filing system is efficient and reliable for team use.
Developmental Opportunities: Gain experience by handling smaller projects from start to finish. This includes understanding briefs, engaging with stakeholders, creating storyboards, planning and executing shoots, and incorporating feedback during the editing process.

Purpose:

* To assist in providing quantity surveying based support and capability to Building & Facilities Management Department, to enable the UKAEA, collaborating partners and its tenants to undertake their activities in properly maintained and supported facilities.
