Make an Impact by
- Design and develop Electrical systems for new and existing data centers, including but not limited with MV/LV power distribution, backup power, Earthing &lightning protection systems, Load balancing & distribution, lighting& emergency lighting , acoustic design , cable containment systems, T&C procedures.
- Select and procure electrical equipment, ensuring it meets safety standards and performance requirements.
- Perform calculations to determine power requirements, equipment capacities, and circuit loads.
- Critical Data Centre equipment design including EHT Transformer, Switchroom bay, Ring Main Unit, Transformers, Uninterrupted power supply, Batteries, Switchboard, Automatic/Statis transfer switch, Busduct, End Feed Unit, Tap Off Unit, Standby Power Generators, etc. Sequence of Operations, Control Systems, Fire Detection/Suppression systems, DRUPS, fire protection, plumbing and sanitary system.
- Collaborate with the core team to understand, develop and update the data centre mechanical designs, starting from basis of design (BOD), feasibility study, concept and detailed design development to issue for constructions (IFC) documents, for new data centre project buildouts and major infrastructure upgrades to all levels of testing and commissioning works.
- Update and maintain the internal design specifications, drawings, and standards in accordance with the latest configurations and including all 'lessons learned' in relation to all equipment. Perform design and equipment submittal review for new Data Centers.
- Evaluate the design& construction and operation of mission-critical facilities and associated MEP components.
- Liaise with internal business units and external customers for technical requirement to translate into executable plan for implementation by consultant and/or contractor.
- To Participate and Review Data Center MEP Design and other necessary disciplines for new data center builds and data hall fitouts.
- Create data hall layout plans and perform test fits to validate server capacity plans and failover calculations.
- Evaluate facility processes and industry best practices to drive efficiencies and effectiveness in the Electrical Power line up.
- Perform technical design reviews and proposal for data centre first of kind systems and equipment.
- To continually find ways to collaborate and break new ground to enhance MEP design to meet future needs. Develop innovative solutions.
- Own the conceptual design for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions, which add capacity, improve availability, increase efficiency and sustainability.
- Support the DC Engineering FM team to become a Subject Matter Expert and understand how to overcome design limitations and risks.
- Interface with internal stakeholders to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered.
- Liaise and assist Operation team to identify/understand Electrical System issues and provide solutions.
- Review data centre commissioning scripts to ensure they accurately test all modes of operations. Witness key commissioning tests on site.
- Conduct site inspection and work with onsite field engineers, as well as provide engineering evaluations, mechanical systems audits, and start-up as needed.
- Continually maintain positive and collaborative working relations with partner teams, vendors, teammates, and internal customers.
Skills for Success
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of mission critical design experience and end to end Electrical design experience from Extra High Tension to Low Tension in AC and DC System in mission critical design, construction and operations.
- Knowledge of large-scale mission critical facility’s Electrical infrastructure systems.
- Experience with fast-track design/build projects and or multiple significant upgrade projects.
- Fundamental knowledge in Electrical Power load flow, Fault analysis and Protection in the Electrical Power System.
- Ability to incorporate Renewable Energy System to the Distribution Network and strong understanding of Electrical codes and standards.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
