Summary

The Assistant Director of Leadership Relations must be able to execute multiple projects, tasks, and priorities in support of the Office of University Advancement’s Leadership Relations efforts to engage the next generation of global volunteers for Northeastern’s Global Leaders, Women Who Empower Ambassadors, emerging philanthropists, and other signature Leadership Relations alumni networks.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Leadership Relations, the Assistant Director will establish and own network global volunteer recruitment timelines and processes and will manage data and reporting needs throughout each cycle. Consistent communication and thorough documentation are required.

In conjunction with the Associate Director, this role will align volunteer initiatives in support of team and division prospect strategies with opportunities for philanthropic programming and engagement, and important one-time and ongoing activities regularly and consistently. They anticipate the Leadership Relation team and division needs and modify tasks as necessary.

The Assistant Director is responsible for promoting 100% annual campaign participation from a portfolio of global network volunteers across Leadership Relations inclusive of personalized cultivation and solicitation of donors and potential donors as appropriate.

Candidates interested in volunteer management, with an interest in working in a fast paced, task-oriented office who demonstrate personal initiative and thrive under autonomy are ideal for this role.

This role will act as a liaison for the Leadership Relations team, collaborating with colleagues to integrate global volunteer work and individual prospect strategies to achieve annual and long-term fundraising goals with internal and external stakeholders.

Major duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

•      Strategy, implementation, and execution of global volunteer programming in collaboration with Associate Director and Leadership Relations team.

•      Oversight of a portfolio of global network volunteers, inclusive of relationship management and curated connections in support of professional and personal development.    

•      Work with the Associate Director of Leadership Relations and advancement volunteer leaders of the university to determine communication cadence, programming needs, and meeting agendas based on regional themes, including recruitment of presenters, preparation of talking points and presentations, and conducting post-event surveys.

•       Salesforce data and reporting management owner for prospect and global volunteer management activity.

•       Management for the administrative oversight of student employment in conjunction with Leadership Relations Coordinator.

•       Management of personal travel, expense, and reimbursement form processing; meeting and appointment calendar coordination; travel arrangements.

Responsibilities

Volunteer Portfolio Management

• Support strategic network initiatives from ideation through execution, inclusive of infrastructure and implementing workflow processes.
• Oversee implementation of global volunteer activities working in close collaboration with university leadership and stakeholders.
• Execute global/regional volunteer programming and collaborate with colleagues to determine agendas aligned with regional themes, recruit presenters, and conduct follow-up.
• Lead recruitment and nomination process to identify new candidates for volunteer networks.
• Work with internal and external partners to develop an annual slate of nominees, and to execute on nominations per annual review.
• Drive audience for signature Leadership Relations events.
• Manage personalized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of volunteer gifts driving participation and leadership giving.
• Develop reporting function and cadence to regularly share volunteer network successes and newsworthy stories.

Data Management and Administrative Support

• Ensure consistent, timely updates of data to maintain integrity of prospect files and prospect records on Salesforce, TechShift, and other university platforms.
• Develop relationships with cross-functional internal stakeholder teams to identify opportunities for collaboration to ensure alignment of processes and reporting.
• Identify areas and processes needing updates and offer innovative and implementable solutions.
• Provide website content management for university website pages utilizing WordPress as needed.

Student Management

• Lead the recruitment, training, and management of student employees and/or ambassadors who work with University Advancement.

Qualifications

-Bachelor’s degree required;
-At least three (3-5) years related office experience, preferably in higher education and/or development;

Provides students with a basic familiarity with and appreciation of public health and community-based methods for improving the health of populations. Explores the purpose and structure of the U.S. public health system, contemporary public health issues such as prevention of communicable diseases, health education, social inequalities in health and healthcare, public health responses to terrorism, and control of unhealthy behaviors like smoking, substance use, and violence.

Focuses on management and policy issues in healthcare. Also explores the variety of factors that influence population health from a healthcare policy perspective. PHTH 4120 - Global Perspectives on Discrimination and Health 

Explores how discrimination can lead to population-level health disparities among marginalized groups globally. Topics include constructions of social categories, such as race and gender; differences in patterns of disease across populations, both intra- and internationally; how work from various disciplines, such as anthropology, medicine, and public health, inform understanding about how discrimination relates to health; and theoretical models from different disciplines that explain public health disparities.

PHTH 4540 Health Education and Program Planning 

Offers a writing-intensive course that introduces concepts central to health education and the program-planning process. Examines current public health issues that require intervention through health education or other types of prevention programs. Studies and applies models and theories used in health education and program planning. Offers students an opportunity to conduct a needs assessment; design and plan a program for a public health issue; create a mission statement for the program as well as goals, objectives, and strategies; and design the intervention, develop an evaluation plan, and create a budget and marketing plan.

HSCI 1105 Human Nutrition

Examines the fundamental role of nutrition in promoting health and how lifestyle and the socioecological model work together. Covers the physiological functions of energy-providing nutrients in the body and interrelationships, including the key functions of macronutrients and micronutrients. Introduces the use of two different diet assessment tools to assist individuals in selecting food for health promotion. Offers students an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of what it means to make healthy choices and the role nutrients have on a person’s wellness.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our multi-institutional research team led by Professor Jerome Hajjar at Northeastern Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. This position is part of a pioneering project funded by the Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E), focusing on developing carbon sequestration techniques using cross-laminated timber (CLT) composite floor systems in bolted steel construction for building structures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute expertise in acoustics, vibrations, and/or dynamics of mass timber structures to the design and testing of a novel Deconstructable CLT and steel composite floor system.
• Conduct in-depth analysis of acoustics and vibrations of a CLT and steel composite floor system.
• Contribute to life cycle assessments of the proposed structural system.
• Assist in the design and execution of strength testing of the proposed structural system.
• Collaborate with a diverse team of researchers and industry partners to advance the project goals.

Qualifications:

• PhD in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field, with a focus on structural acoustics and/or vibrations.
• Demonstrated expertise in sustainable design and life cycle analysis (LCA).
• Experience in experimental design and testing in structural engineering.
• Specific experience in mass timber systems, particularly CLT, is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

The School of Nursing invites applications for an Assistant Dean of Prelicensure Programs with a faculty appointment as an assistant, associate or full clinical professor. Responsibilities

The Assistant Dean, Prelicensure Programs for the School of Nursing has responsibility for the School’s undergraduate, prelicensure academic programs. The Admissions Communications Team is a hybrid marketing and communications team which blends traditional and digital marketing efforts with a focus on communication strategy. The team is made up of experts in skill areas such as: marketing, communications, analytics, and strategy. Reporting to the Director of Admissions Communications, the Associate Director is responsible for working across traditional and digital marketing and communication channels, with an emphasis on traditional marketing efforts such as events, print collateral, and direct mail. 

The Associate Director’s portfolio will include, but not be limited, to the following:

• Strategically leading the marketing and communications event strategy for on and off campus undergraduate admissions events for the Boston, Oakland, and London campuses. 
• Leading the print and postage strategy and managing direct mail campaigns aimed at generating awareness and enrollment into the undergraduate programs on all three UG campuses.
• Strategic lead on print collateral efforts for prospective, admitted, and enrolling audiences.

The Associate Director is responsible for creating, deploying, tracking, and measuring their campaigns in support of enrollment management strategy and across multiples colleges within Northeastern University. Strategies must drive and support annual enrollment goals, increase awareness, and contribute to the overall success of Northeastern University. Close collaboration with internal teammates, colleagues around the university, and external vendors will be a key facet of this role. 

QUALIFICATIONS

• A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in a marketing related field, with 6-8 years of experience in communications and/or marketing.

Job Summary:

The Respiratory Innovation and Simulation Team (RESIST), led by Professor Oakes, is looking for a laboratory coordinator to assist with daily lab function and perform experiments that are funded by the National Institute of Health. Ongoing projects in the lab are focused on assessing respiratory health following exposure to wildland fire smoke and electronic cigarettes. The position will be focused on lab and personal management as well as assisting with in vivo experiments. Specific functions may include

• Biological and chemical waste management
• Inventory and supply management (including ordering and negotiating quotes)
• Managing lab equipment and assisting with routine maintenance
• Working with under-graduate and graduate students on their research projects
• Supervision of under-graduate and graduate students
• Performing biological lab experiments (e.g., immunofluorescent staining, RT-PCR)
• Performing animal exposures
• Performing respiratory mechanics measurements
• Drafting manuscripts and preparing scientific figures

The ideal person will not only perform general lab management but also become engaged with the research projects and assist with personal management.

Minimim Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Student Financial Services (SFS) team as an Associate Director of Compliance, Audit, and Training. In this critical role, you will work under the direction of the Director of Compliance, Audit, and Training. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that Student Financial Services complies with federal, state, and institutional policies.

To achieve this, you will research, develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures, ensuring they are effective in achieving compliance and meeting the needs of SFS leadership and operational teams. You will proactively advise and assist operational areas to align processes with compliance requirements. You will collaborate with other units to organize and deliver a comprehensive training program for SFS employees. You will conduct internal audits and risk assessments to ensure quality control of Title IV processes. Additionally, you will participate in federal and state on-site audit visits and assist with any corrective actions.

The available position is in the Chemical Engineering Department of Northeastern University (Boston Campus). The School of Architecture in the College of Arts, Media, and Design invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track Teaching Professor in Landscape Architecture at the rank of Assistant or Associate, with a focus on teaching fundamental site design, landform and grading, and representation. We seek an innovative colleague eager to contribute to the growth and creative evolution of our landscape architecture program.  

 
Responsibilities 

The full-time faculty member will be expected to teach undergraduate landscape architecture design studios and seminars at multiple levels, from introductory to advanced. In the case of advanced studios and seminars, we seek a faculty member that can build upon their rich research or creative professional practice, as well as their local and/or global experiences.

A full course load for this position is three courses per fall and spring semesters. Class formats may range between design studios, workshop courses, seminars and/or lectures. In addition to teaching, the faculty member will be expected to develop, maintain, and coordinate curricular initiatives as we begin the process of accrediting our Bachelor of Landscape Architecture program.

Position Summary:

The primary responsibilities of the Clerk of the Works position is to support Project Managers on assigned projects through the project delivery process from the planning phase through project closeout. Project assignments represent a diverse portfolio of project types and and sizes. During the planning and design phases, the Clerk of the Works works with project managers to review project requirements and advise on site logistics, constructability, schedule, NU standards and permitting requirements. During the construction phase this position coordinates construction activity and logistics to avoid adversely impacting on-going University functions and operations. Monitor and inspect construction activity to ensure work-in-place is of high quality and complies with NU standards, the contract documents and schedule. Works with the project manager and contractor to maintain the project schedule and if unavoidable delays occur, help develop strategies to recover the schedule to complete projects on time. This position must have knowledge in obtaining permits in the City of Boston and maintain productive relationships agencies is necessary. Interaction and coordination with other NEU entities such as Police, Fire, Health and Safety, and Facilities group as necessary for complete project coordination is required. This position has no independent financial authority and must obtain approval of the project manager or others with financial authority prior to making financial commitments on assigned projects. Professional, clear and concise communications is a must.

Qualifications:

• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in construction management, engineering, architecture; or related field. Minimum Requirements: Associate degree in construction management, construction technology or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years experience in building construction with at least 5 years in a construction supervisory role. Experience working in a college/university setting a plus.
• Substantial experience working within a unionized workforce
• Must have a sound working knowledge of all applicable local, state and federal building codes, OSHA, NFPA, CBOCA, Life Safety and hazardous materials.
• Strong working knowledge of building components, assemblies and systems. Demonstrated knowledge of construction materials, means, and methods along with a strong attention to detail is required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills

Summary

The School of Architecture in the College of Arts, Media and Design at Northeastern University seeks applications for the 2024-25 Design Research and Teaching Fellowship, a one-year visiting appointment that provides emerging scholars, practitioners, and advocates of the built environment with the opportunity to develop a body of design research based on a specific area of interest while contributing to the vibrant intellectual culture of the school. The position is a non-tenure track appointment at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor and is scheduled to commence in August, 2024.

The fellowship supports teaching related to the candidate’s area of interest, as well as modest resources for the development of independent research and creative work. Fellows will have the opportunity to design new curricula for studio and seminar courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, as well as to teach within the School of Architecture’s core curriculum. They will be provided with opportunities to share their ongoing fellowship work with the wider Northeastern community through lectures, presentations, and exhibitions throughout the academic year. In particular, fellows are invited to engage and collaborate with the diverse faculty body within the School of Architecture, across the College of Arts, Media and Design, and with other colleges and centers across the University. Candidates from a variety of backgrounds, training, and perspectives are encouraged to apply for this position.

Responsibilities

The teaching responsibilities of the fellowship include three courses taught during the 2024-25 academic year. At least one of the courses will take the form of a research-centric design studio that builds directly on the Fellow’s research project, and provides a way for them to draw connections between their teaching, research, and creative practice. Other courses include design studios, research seminars or representation courses within the School of Architecture’s core curriculum where the Fellow’s unique perspective on the built environment will contribute towards the existing strengths of the department on areas such as sustainable design, urban ecologies, collective housing, public health, and material experimentation.  

As the culmination of the fellowship year, the Fellow will be invited to deliver a lecture as part of the School of Architecture’s public lecture series and/or to prepare an exhibition or other event that showcases the research, teaching, and/or creative work that they conducted while in residence at the school.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a terminal degree (PhD, Master’s, or equivalent) in their proposed area of research by the appointment start date. Applicants with prior studio teaching experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

• A 1-2 page proposal for a year-long design research project that will be developed as part of the fellowship. The proposal must include a description of how this project can be explored through a research studio curriculum.

The Head of Operations - Institute of Experiential AI plays a pivotal role in supporting the Executive Director of the Institute of Experiential AI in strategic planning, operations, and stakeholder management. Manage a wide range of responsibilities, from coordinating initiatives to overseeing administrative functions. Serve as the primary liaison between the Roux Institute and the Office of the Provost around positions, budgets and goals, will manage all administrative staff, and be an integral member of the IEAI leadership team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and skills required for this position are normally obtained through a Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Public Policy, Computer Science, Engineering). Ph.D. preferred and prior applied AI management or development experience preferred.

Proven experience in a leadership or strategic planning role, preferably in an academic or research environment.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of driving results.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Demonstrated proficiency in project management tools and software.
