We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist who has both clinical and leadership experience within oncology and haemato-oncology. You will lead and operationally manage a team of pharmacists, technicians and support staff offering a clinical service to the haematology/oncology day unit, and liaising with the clinical trials and aseptic teams.

You will ideally have project management or service improvement experience to help move forward the pharmacy agenda within the Trust’s cancer strategy. You will have excellent communication, organisational and time management skills and can demonstrate a high level of attention to detail. We are keen to develop a pharmacist prescriber role within our oncology outpatient clinics and so a non-medical prescriber qualification would be desirable.

The appointees will join with the existing Acute Physicians in the Department of Acute Medicine at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust.

Though this primarily post is based at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, cross site work may be required at Peterborough City Hospital.

Specialists in Acute Internal Medicine or General Internal Medicine recognised by the EEC are eligible to apply. Appropriate office accommodation, secretarial support and IT support will be provided.

The post holder will work across our Acute Medicine department on Acute Assessment Unit (AAU), the Short Stay Unit and the Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU). The AAU sees, assesses, and treats patients in our acute unselected medical take. Ambulatory care is overseen by a consultant and staffed by specialty doctors and by advanced nurse practitioners, Short Stay Ward receives medical patients likely to be discharged within 72 hours of admission and achieves a high turnover of patients per day.

We are particularly keen to recruit and support candidates willing to develop a clinical leadership role.

We have a 30 bedded short stay ward, and an ambulatory care unit. Work is in progress to establish Same Day Emergency Care services (SDEC) that include medical assessment, surgical assessment, and ambulatory care and frailty services. These posts offer a unique opportunity to be involved in the planning and development of an integrated SDEC service from an early stage.

The department will also work closely with primary care and community to develop better services for our patients.

We are looking for newly qualified consultants or established consultants with a passion for Acute Medicine and wanting a new challenge. You must be a capable senior decision maker who will support the rapid assessment of patients including post take ward round for patients, streaming to appropriate pathways and commencement of treatment. NWAFT have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Biomedical or Clinical Scientist with an interest in operational management and laboratory quality to join our Pathology senior leadership team. This is a key post within our department and will play a pivotal role in the technical and scientific delivery, development and transformation of our blood science and transfusion services on the Hinchingbrooke hospital site to benefit our service users and patients.

All our blood science laboratories are IBMS accredited training centres committed to education and training excellence. This is a full-time post for one experienced Trust Grade FY2 to join the Hinchingbrooke Hospital (HH) based team. Your role will include:

1. Care of the elective ward at HH

2. Pre-operative assessment of patients.

5. On-call duties are at Peterborough City Hospital (PCH) site alongside the resident On-Call SPR and under the guidance of the On-call Consultant.

There will be excellent opportunities to learn surgical and clinical skills in both cold orthopaedics and trauma. Hinchingbrooke is the main elective Orthopaedic site for NWAFT and Peterborough is the hot Trauma site with some specialised elective day case theatre lists. The plan is for most of the elective work to move to Hinchingbrooke in next year.

In collaboration with the team, you will provide high quality patient care to inpatients, deliver pre-operative assessment of patients, and assist in elective theatres.

You will have full registration with the General Medical Council with a license to practice.

Teaching and training are important for us. You will enjoy excellent hands-on experiences to learn surgical and clinical skills in both cold orthopaedics and minor trauma.

You will join a team of 7 Junior Doctors and 4 Nurse Practitioners based at HH who support the doctors with routine elective ward work as well as pre-operative assessment.

During the on-call shifts at PCH, you will work alongside the resident on call SPR and you will also be supported by the On Call Consultant who is resident during the daytime and non resident overnight.

The Associate Specialists and Specialty Doctors undertake elective lists and outpatient sessions each week while the FY2 or ST Doctors are expected to clerk the patients for those lists. Ward rounds are included in the weekly schedule. Your role will fit into going on ward rounds and supporting consultants.

There are regular monthly medical audit meetings. You will ensure that all data collection and processing undertaken is consistently accurate and timely and complies with the Trust Data Quality Policy and local procedures.

• Collaborate closely with the Blood Sciences management team and Consultant Pathologists to deliver a quality-focused, cost-effective, and customer-centric service, encompassing routine Haematology, Biochemistry, and Blood Transfusion specialties.
• Practice as an HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist (BMS) and contribute to the scientific advancement of the service, aligning with the professional experience of the role.
• Participate in training and development programs to ensure all staff are adequately skilled and progressed.
• Assist in realigning service provisions, working closely with Consultant Pathologists, Departmental Management teams, and the Blood Sciences Manager.
• Conduct test procedures, often of a complex nature, ensuring accurate recording and reporting of results.
• Engage fully in a multi-skilled 24/7 Blood Sciences rota after completing appropriate training and competency assessments.
• Act as a deputy for a Senior BMS when required, assuming responsibility for an additional role within the laboratory, such as supporting training, maintaining quality standards, ensuring health and safety compliance, or enhancing service provision.

The 24/7 Blood Science service is delivered using Sysmex Haematology and Coagulation, Roche Cobas Chemistry and Grifols Transfusion instrumentation. All staff are expected to participate in 24/7 working once fully competent.

The Trust offers pay progression from band 5 to 6 upon successful completion of an appropriate IBMS Specialist Portfolio or 2 years post-registration experience with an M-Level qualification in a relevant field.

NWAFT serves a diverse and fast-growing population of 700,000 people and employs around 6,000 staff. NWAFT is commissioned by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough ICB and Lincolnshire ICB.

Peterborough and Hinchingbrooke Maternity Departments have been rated as ‘Good’ by CQC in June 2023. They have fully equipped obstetric and midwifery led birthing units, fetal medicine scanning and high risk obstetric services in addition to high quality modern inpatient and outpatient Gynaecology services. The Maternity IT system is K2 with all 3 modules- Antenatal, Intrapartum and Postnatal. The unithas achieved UNICEF Level 3 for Breast Feeding Initiative (BFI).

Both units have a credible reputation for their personal approach to the provision of maternity services and the excellent care provided for women and their families. There are about 2200 births per annum at Hinchingbrooke Hospital (HH). Peterborough City Hospital (PCH) deliversaround 4500 women per annum. Both units have a Midwifery-led birthing Unit (MLBU) alongside the Consultant led Unit.

The standard job plan is of 10 programmed activities (PAs). This includes participation in a 1 in 9 on call rota for Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust has an exciting opportunity for a Specialty Doctor to work within Theatres, Anaesthetics and the Critical Care Clinical Business Unit, with the majority of the work at Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon. The post was previously created to provide a middle grade tier for the Theatres at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

The post holders will have full registration with the General Medical Council and will have completed at least 2 years of training and service in hospitals recognised by the Royal College of Anaesthetists for training purposes, in the StR, CT or FTSTA grade.

Applicants who have had all of their training overseas should demonstrate that they have completed at least three years in the specialty of Anaesthesia in posts which have offered a breadth and depth of experience comparable to that obtainable in the United Kingdom during a similar training period.

Principal elements of the post will be:

1. Providing elective for a mixture of surgical specialty sessions such as orthopaedics, ENT, upper GI, colorectal or gynaecology.

2. Providing emergency cover for emergency work including all surgical specialities excluding trauma, obstetrics, crash calls and the Emergency Department.
