• Responsible for maintenance, and repair, of plumbing systems in buildings.
• Responsible for maintenance, and repair, of utility systems.
• Activation and deactivation of seasonal plumbing systems.
• Perform minor repairs and assist on larger underground utilities work.
• Performs custodial and inventory services in shop, storage buildings as needed.
• Performs a variety of job estimates, preparation of material requisition forms and inventory control.

MAJOR DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

• Provides pre-established talks normally following a prescribed outline and requiring application of broad subject-matter knowledge of the features of interest peculiar to the site.
• Guides very large groups (of up to 50 people) in situations where:
  • the physical limitations of the area or facility being explained make it difficult to accommodate the party on trips of two or more hours duration;
  • the work situation is such that there is potential danger of serious accidents or injury or other emergency situations;
  • the trips are of several hours duration, and teams of guides are utilized.
• Provides a wide range of services to visitors, including assistance with lost articles, car trouble, and first aid; and provides information about weather conditions, highway routes, park and concessioner facilities, and prices.

Major duties include:

• Provides or manages project scoping, data and asset management, design phases (pre­design, schematic design, design development, construction documents), value analysis, and administration for a broad range of facilities and related maintenance operations, including construction, rehabilitation, and renovation and re­purposing.
• Work may include, but is not limited to, the following type of structures or facilities: campsites, visitor centers, lodging, employee housing, potable water system, wastewater systems, communication systems, roads, bridges, trails, parking, bus facilities, transportation systems, and administrative structures as well as meeting budget and schedule requirements.
• Work includes multiple simultaneous projects, ranging from small, single­ discipline to large multi­disciplinary design and construction projects involving both single and multiple ­year phasing, potentially funded from multiple funding sources and the employee will encounter work components requiring creative solutions that balance cultural and natural resource compliance issues and/or politically sensitive issues.

• Applies well- established turf grass standards to conduct turf grass inspections, feature inventories, and condition assessments.
• Maintain detailed records and data of turf maintenance activities, as well as historical records and condition assessments.
• Identifying historic landscapes, their features, and potential threats; assessing and recommending landscape preservation maintenance; and providing technical assistance in the field of historic landscape mangement and horticulture.
• Primary operator of the irrigation system and hand waters areas needing additional water; performing maintenance and limited repairs of watering/irrigation equipment
• Maintains tools and equipment in clean and safe condition.

• Involves the construction, alteration, installation, repair and modification of items and structures such as framework, rafters, concrete forms, walls, doors, finished paneling, window frames, interior and exterior trims, staircases, trusses, beams, and miscellaneous items such as workbenches, counter tops, bookcases, equipment cabinets, and computer consoles where accuracy, spacing and fit are essential and structural soundness and appearance are important.
• Acts as an inspector on outside contracts and on work performed by less than journeymen of the trade.
• Constructs, rehabilitates, modifies and assembles from blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions, structures such as framework rafters, doors, finished paneling, windows, interior and exterior trims, staircases, trusses and beams, small buildings, building interior finishing, etc.
• Repairs doors, windows, wood substitute items, exterior siding, flooring and interior fabric as necessary in the course of stabilization/restoration and to ensure completeness and structural integrity.
• Repairs roof sheathing and rafters as required.
• Fabricates duplicate replacements of deteriorated wood members such as moldings, beams, timbers and stairways.
• Construction of difficult angle and curved cuts must be exact.

Major Duties:

• Ensures all (100+) government horses and mules are properly shod including corrective shoeing when required.
• Performs minor veterinary treatment on NPS owned horses and mules. Is responsible for corral operations on weekends.
• Is responsible for the inventory of horse and mule shoeing supplies including horse shoes, mule shoes, nails, and horse shoeing tools.
• Instructs Animal Packers in proper and professional horse and mule shoeing procedures.
• Ability to drive a truck towing a three-horse trailer on winding, mountain roads in all weather conditions.

Major Duties:

• Conduct program operations in backcountry settings, carrying a backpack weighing up to 50lbs, in steep, slippery and uneven terrain and in adverse weather conditions; Traveling up to 15 miles per day and staying out 1 to 5 nights per week.
• Participate in non-native fish removal projects using gill nets and piscicides.
• Inventory and monitor aquatic ecosystems following written protocols.
• Conducts field & lab work independently and leads others, while maintaining a safe work environment.
