The job will involve standard duties of a healthcare assistant such as taking bloods and chronic disease management. There are a range of extra duties HCAs are able to undertake and additional experience will be an advantage particularly in respect of immunisations with training provided in other areas. Job Summary To ensure the cleaning standards expected of a clinical environment are upheld and are in line with CQC guidelines. Follow cleaning schedule and suggest changes as appropriate. Job Responsibilities: Clinical Rooms: (Steam Clean Floors especially edging, Chairs/Blinds), damp wipe, polish, empty rubbish bins, clinical waste removal, Move Recycled Waste Bags, general tidy, clean sinks & associated area, ensure adequate supplies of paper roll, bed roll, soap, alcohol gel, moisturiser, Clean Telephones and keyboards with wipes, clean window sills Offices / administration areas / conference space/Counsellors room: Vacuum (all carpeted area especially edging), damp wipe, polish, empty rubbish bins, damp wipe computers / phones, tidy, clean window sills WCs: Clean and disinfect toilet, steam clean as required. Ensure adequate supplies of toilet paper, soap etc. Waiting area: Vacuum, Electric Floor Scrubber/Steam Clean paying particular attention to edgings, dust & polish fittings & fixtures as necessary, ensure area is tidy Clean and disinfect areas that have been made unfit for use i.e. patients vomit, blocked toilet etc Kitchenette / Conference: Clean sink, ensure cupboards / fridge / microwave etc are clean and free of expired foodstuffs, damp mop floors, empty / clear rubbish bins, ensure adequate supplies of soap, paper towels etc fill and unload dishwasher Shower room: Check regularly, ensuring adequate supplies and cleanliness Bins: Take rubbish to external store, this should be kept tidy, all cardboard etc to be flattened, re-cycled materials as possible / appropriate Notify manager of any breakages or hazards Wash up items in consulting rooms Maintain supplies of cleaning materials, inform Buildings & Premises Officer when to replenish stocks Spot Clean, any carpet stains. Maintain infection control standards and ensure policies are adhered too. Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time Health & Safety: The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others health, safety and security as defined in the practice Health & Safety Policy, to include: Using personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards Reporting potential risks identified.

Undertake specified direct and indirect care, clinical and therapeutic intervention as delegated by the Registered Nurse / Health Care Professional. Carry out specified delegated clinical care and support consistent with the patient / users plan of care. Deliver unsupervised specified care and intervention as prescribed by an appropriate Registered Health Care Professional in accordance to agreed Trust and Directorate policies, procedures and protocols. Assist the Registered Professional by developing care plans for treatment, assessing and documenting care, providing verbal and written reports in an effective and safe manner. Make observations of care with regard to supporting the patient/users general health and well-being. Reporting areas of concern. Assist and support care delivery by only undertaking delegated work that is within own level skill and competence. Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the care delivered by the Medical retina team and that benefits the patient/ user experience. To support the medical retina team in delivering injection lists in UHL or in a community setting. To support Medical Retina clinics where required. To be involved in Audit and research. To support transformation and change within the Ophthalmology services.

To assist with the acquisition and distribution of relevant trial documentation. To assist with the acquisition and distribution of study equipment/tools and ensure relevant health and safety checks are carried out in accordance with relevant Trust Policies. To assist in the preparation and submission of documentation for clinical research approvals. To create and maintain trial site files for each trial in accordance with ICH-GCP and Research Governance. Collection of patient data from medical notes and completion of case record form (CRF) and to liaise with clinical trials coordinators, research nurses and investigators to ensure accurate data collection. To transcribe/export data from medical records (paper or electronic) to CRFs (paper or electronic e-CRFs) as required by the study protocol. To ensure safe filing and storage of study documentation in accordance to research governance. Conduct quality assurance of documentation. To organise and prepare for visits by trial monitors as required by the study protocol. To take responsibility for liaising with clinical trial units regarding data queries and for checking and resolving data queries. To support the assessment of patient eligibility, in liaison with other appropriate health care professionals for clinical trial entry, involving coordination of pre study tests, obtaining results and arrangingappropriate appointments as per clinical trial protocol. To provide written and verbal information relevant to the research study and support clinical staff in the process of gaining informed consent from participants that are entering into clinical research. To deal with telephone enquiries from staff, patients and relatives, ensuring that appropriate personnel are informed in order for actions to be taken. To report any adverse events to the appropriate research nurse and/or principal investigator (PI). Presenting specific trial information at multidisciplinary team meetings. To act in a professional manner at all times when dealing with patients, relatives and representatives from both within and outside of the Trust. Co-ordination of specified trials and take responsibility for : Organisation of any necessary tests and investigations as detailed within the Sample preparation (e.g. blood, urine, tissue and faecal samples): retrieval, centrifuging, pipetting, slide making and preparation for storage, liaising with the hospital and external laboratories when appropriate. Undertaking low risk clinical duties. Maintaining logs of stored samples and freezer temperatures. Maintaining adequate stock levels of sample kits. Required to hold a phone for a short period of time to monitor freezer/fridge temperatures including during and out of office hours. Organising the logistical aspects of diagnostic specimens, packaging, and shipment, including handling of dry ice. Resolving data queries raised by sponsoring organisations. Archiving all study related material including patients notes after study closure. Reporting and submitting of Serious Adverse Events (SAEs) from this site within stipulated timeframes to sponsor organisations and the Research and Innovation Office. Tracking Serious Unexpected Event reporting. Maintaining and updating study specific site files. Notifying General Practitioners of their patients involvement in a clinical trial. As a new post holder, training will be provided for the key aspects of this role, and a period of induction identified, however, the post holder will be expected to take advantage of opportunities to upgrade their skills and to attend meetings and workshops to enhance their knowledge.

Reception Duties: Provide cover on reception, receiving and directing patients, visitors and staff in a courteous manner. To direct and redirect telephone calls in a polite friendly manner.
