Leadership 1. Lead on maintaining the Trusts electronic workforce information systems, including making changes to structures as directed by the People Information & Planning Manager and divisional finance leads 2. To actively support the People Information & Planning Manager in leading on the workforce aspects of strategic workforce planning, reporting and service delivery within NUH 3. To deputise for the People Information and Planning Manager as required Operational 1. To manage, maintain and develop regular and ad hoc reports using a broad range of tools and techniques, and to provide detailed advice, support and guidance to clients using specialist knowledge. 2. To understand and interpret highly complex information requirements, assess the purpose for which the information is required and develop and deliver appropriate solutions using various information query tools and languages. 3. To analyse highly complex data for a wide range of stakeholders, determining the best form for communicating/presenting the information, from simple to highly complex and ensuring that the presentation is relevant, comprehensible and conforms to agreed timescales with the stakeholder. 4. To plan and organise workloads to ensure deadlines are met for statutory, regular and ad-hoc requests. 5. To proactively improve methods of data extraction, manipulation, analysis and presentation. Develop new and existing systems and define and evaluate alternative options. 6. To manage the collection and collation of other sources of information to support the production of comprehensive, multi-faceted information reports to the customer. 7. To provide relevant data or information, as required, at short notice that is of a satisfactory accurate level in order to aid urgent discussions relating to Trust performance. 8. Identify, investigate and understand possible anomalies in the information analysed, and establish effective exception reporting. 9. Develop & maintain robust processes to validate information 10. Work with members of the team to develop and implement automated processes to streamline current or future reporting systems for efficient, robust and timely data/reporting 11. Contribute to the review and development of existing information management systems and contribute to the development of an integrated approach to project management 12. Contribute to the information management of performance, taking a lead for specific projects 13. To support and work closely with the People Information & Planning Manager on local and national data submissions 14. Attend meetings where required as the Workforce Information representative and information expert to interpret and present information, provide explanations where the information analysis is highly complex, give advice and feedback. 15. To undertake and fully understand the completion and submission of the wide range of returns to Care Commissioning Groups, NHSE and I, and the Department of Health and Social Care and to assume responsibility for returns 16. To undertake a variety of other complex information retrieval and reporting duties as part of the Workforce Information team. To undertake any other duties, which might reasonably be required. 17. To train end users to understand and fully utilise solutions provided by Workforce Information. To develop guidance notes for service users to ensure the source and meaning of information is understood. 18. Undertake quality audits and follow up systems to ensure that workforce data held is accurate 19. Work with members of the team to develop and implement automated processes to streamline current or future reporting systems for efficient, robust and timely data/reporting 20. Contribute to the review and development of existing information management systems and contribute to the development of an integrated approach to project management 21. Contribute to the information management of performance, taking a lead for specific projects 22. Participate in relevant internal and external working groups/projects, services, and initiatives which may be highly complex, sensitive and contain contentious information with the aim of providing information and analytical advice to the teams 23. Support relevant tasks/projects by providing high quality support including complex information and analysis, communications and stakeholder management Communication 1. To communicate complex information effectively across all channels and facilitate collaborative working with multi-disciplinary team colleagues 2. Contribute to effective communication within the Trust and in the wider health care community regarding the Trusts workforce information agenda 3. Be pro-active in promoting the Trusts vision for delivering excellence 4. Ensure that good practice is shared and delivered at all levels within the service 5. To attend meetings internally and externally as required and maintain excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders Management 1. To give specialist training and provide ongoing development for the Workforce Officers and new members of the workforce team. To provide cover as necessary for other members of the team. 2. Support the People Information and Planning manager with line management of the team, providing advice and support to team members to ensure a quality service is delivered 3. As directed by the People Information and Planning Manager complete appraisals for direct line reports and ensure the team have undertaking mandatory training to the required timescales 4. Support with staff recruitment and selection within the department as required 5. Ensure that personal development plans are in place for the team as directed and reflection and continuous learning are part of day-to-day activity Professional 1. Maintain expert knowledge of current technological and best practice developments across the field. 2. Maintain and update a Professional Portfolio and Professional Development Plan. Undertake courses and other activities to satisfy continuing professional development requirements 3. Be able to work independently and manage own workload to make effective use of time and resources and working to local and national standards 4. Work flexibly and undertake other duties commensurate to the grade as required 5. Participate in Joint Annual Personal Development Review with line manager 6. To work within all current policies and procedures
