What would you be doing in this role?

You would be leading and evolving our DEI and culture strategies across Consumer Lending.

• Working closely with Central DEI and Culture teams to understand, contribute to and embed Group priorities.
• Strategic partnering with leaders and People Partners to influence structural inclusion and the diversity of our workforce.
• Analysing DE&I data and insight to identify DE&I challenges and solutions, telling the story to colleagues and leaders, and building the right support for interventions.
• Owning our colleague listening strategy, including data storytelling from engagement surveys.
• Embedding cultural transformation initiatives at all levels and project managing our bespoke career enhancement programmes.

Then we've got news for you: an exciting opportunity has arisen to join Group Public Affairs (GPA) on a 9-month fixed term contract as a Business Support Manager (BSM). You'll be responsible for enhancing the Group's reputation by supporting the Ambassadors for the East and South-East of England in their role as trusted and credible influencers within these regions, thereby helping to amplify and promote the Group's main strategic priorities. We're looking for a high-calibre colleague who's engaged and passionate to work with us from no later than February 2025.

The BSM is a member of the wider GPA team, made up of colleagues from a variety of political, policy and industry backgrounds. The main focus areas will be political engagement and public policy advocacy, with a requirement to use traditional and social media to enhance the Group's reputation and secure engagement with our policy positions in these regions. The BSM will be required to maintain and build a good political network in the East and South East of England.

Key responsibilities

• Devising a comprehensive regional engagement strategy.

• Preparing and briefing Ambassadors ahead of meetings with political stakeholders.

• Political monitoring of political and public policy issues relevant to the Ambassador's regions.

• Convening, and preparing for, roundtables and bilateral meetings with regional stakeholders including local MPs, Metro Mayors, Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) leaders (both virtually and face-to-face within the region or Westminster). This will require travel to and around both regions.

• Supporting the delivery of division-wide engagement and policy advocacy campaigns e.g. The Big Conversation 2020.

• Developing and delivering comprehensive political engagement plans for the Ambassadors, crafted to deliver LBG's strategic priorities. While balancing this with 'reactive' engagement on topics which matter to regional stakeholders e.g. support for business, domestic abuse, inclusion, branch closures etc.

• Developing good working relationships with local MPs, thereby becoming a trusted and known LBG contact for the region's stakeholders.

• Identifying, escalating and mitigating emerging risks arising from decisions taken by the Group in the region.

• Representing the Group at, sometimes difficult, political meetings and functions with regional government officials, trade bodies and other opinion formers.

• Responding swiftly (and socialise with other GPA peers) to enquiries or complaints from politicians. This could involve monitoring of political activity during weekends or bank holidays.

• Providing expertise and input into government consultations specifically affecting the regions.

• Working with social and traditional media agencies to develop opportunities for being recognised for our social activity and, ultimately, to increase advocacy of our ideas. This will involve managing the Ambassadors' Twitter handles ensuring co-ordination with Group handles where required while embracing opportunities for bespoke content.

What you'll need

• Curious about the social and cultural forces that affect the environment in which the Group operates.

It is required that candidates have experience of working with external stakeholders (political or media), managing reputational challenges and risks, and good knowledge of corporate affairs. Join our Economic Crime Intelligence Lab in a key Data Science role you'll see how a leading FinTech fights fraud whilst ensuring continuity of the service our customers expect. You're going after the fraudsters, the social engineering con-artists and money mules. In turn this helps to protect customers and wider society from the harm caused by fraud and scams.

You'd be using your skills in Python to update and maintain our machine learning libraries underpinning our fraud controls. You'll work with new technologies (Spark, Hadoop, Pyspark), toolsets and techniques to embed the latest solutions into our products. Your skills will in time be utilised within wider Economic Crime areas with exposure to even wider technologies and learning.

Ultimately you'll get to identify innovative solutions within machine learning and use statistical analysis to detect and prevent fraud against our customers and the bank. Your input will help our fraud detection become ever more sophisticated through improved accuracy i.e. less interruption of genuine customer transactions. You'll also have very well-defined success metrics (e.g. detection rate, alert rate) and an abundance of meaningful, complex data for you to get stuck into.

A fantastic opportunity to join the Group Impairment Finance team, part of the Central Finance function in an influential leadership role managing a small team responsible for the analysis, insight and explanation on credit performance, reporting into the Group Impairment Finance Director.

Within Central Finance, the Group Impairment Finance team is a centre of excellence, with around 30 colleagues. The team works closely with Credit Risk and business partners covering all aspects of Impairment and Expected Credit Losses for the Group. This includes modelling, analysis and insight, planning, business partnering as well as financial reporting and control activity.

The profile of Impairment and its impact on the Group's financial performance has increased significantly over the last few years and while the economic outlook is improving, the impact of COVID and recent economic conditions, alongside the complexity of IFRS 9 accounting standard, means that Impairment remains a key component of the Group's financial performance. We therefore expect this will continue to be a very interesting time for the team.

The Head of Impairment Financial Planning & Analysis role stretches across internal and external reporting, analysis and forecasting processes, with ledger activity, financial controls and partnering activity are covered by the wider Impairment team. The FP&A team operates in keeping with the Group's approach to a thin business partnering model, providing support to the two divisional business partners in the wider team.

This leadership role would therefore be a great fit for an analytical Finance leader who has capabilities across numerical analysis, and bringing insight and clarity from complex and detailed analysis. Leading a team through clear direction and strong influencing capabilities. The role therefore provides a fantastic opportunity to develop a deep understanding of a key part of the Group's financial performance and work closely with a number of teams and senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the operation and governance forums for the quarterly Expected Credit Loss provision assessment including model calibration and judgemental adjustments.

• Manage the effective delivery of all Impairment P&L and balance sheet inputs into wider Finance reporting and forecasting processes.

• Producing insight and analysis to understand and explain to others the drivers and implications for impairment and provisioning. These include customer behaviour, economics, Group policy and regulatory actions.

• Lead as a subject matter expert on Impairment provisioning, supporting Retail and Commercial partners in the wider team to provide a great service to the business and finance teams we support.

• Provision of board papers and external disclosure narrative related to credit performance and the respective financial impact on divisional and Group performance.

About this opportunity
Our Behavioural Science group are a small but diverse team embedded within the bank's Data Science team. We focus on decision-making and behaviours, knowledge of state-of-the art behavioural insights and rigorous quantitative research methods, to add customer value and resolve business problems.

We're creating vast data lakes to understand how our customers behave and what they demand and are establishing environments to refine our solutions through live experiments. All of this enables us to meet the personalised banking needs of an increasingly digital society. We've set up a dedicated multi-disciplinary team of Behavioural Scientists that combines behavioural insights with data, to create entirely new opportunities for our customers and colleagues.

What you'll work on.

While you'll be able to shape the role according to your core expertise, strengths and interests, your role will involve the following:

• You'll provide thought leadership and champion behavioural insights to help different business areas improve their understanding of our customers' activity and decision-making - especially in support of new digital and offline customer experiences.

• Working across various products and services, you'll design and test behaviourally-informed solutions to major challenges based by the bank, in order to transform experiences and deliver tangible benefits to our customers and colleagues.

• You'll contribute to building reusable knowledge, processes and methodologies within the Behavioural Science team to help drive the team's efficiency, scope and growth.

• As an advisor to a wide range of colleagues, you'll lead on the presentation of a diverse range of behavioural research and findings to support key business decision-makers.

• You'll partner with academic collaborators from leading global institutions to help build the team's profile and demonstrate the impact of our Behavioural Science work in and beyond the bank

• You'll work as a part of a diverse team, with colleagues from different backgrounds and wide areas of expertise. You'll be able to understand other people's perspectives and weigh a diverse range of opinions to achieve the best outcomes.

What you'll need

You'll need to have practical experience of applying Behavioural Science approaches in a commercial or government organisation or be PhD qualified in a research discipline with an interest in applying your experience within a commercial setting.

Additionally, we'll expect you to bring:

• A creative and entrepreneurial mind-set.

• Strong understanding of the behavioural science literature based on professional exposure or academic study, for example psychology, behavioural economics, judgement and decision-making or consumer behaviour.

• Proven and relevant experience applying behavioural insights and testing solutions to solve real-world problems, in business, public sector or academia.

• The ability to clearly explain behavioural science concepts to non-specialist audiences.

• Strong knowledge of quantitative research methods and statistical techniques as applied in the social sciences.

• An understanding of ethical and regulatory expectations in financial markets and an awareness of previous examples where these expectations have not been successfully met.

And any experience of these would be really useful

• Experience working within retail financial services, or alternatively another market with a substantial focus on retail customer behaviours.

• Practical experience running large and impactful quantitative experiments, such as using digital A/B testing, personalisation and analytics platforms.

• Experience affecting organisation change around a new finding, idea or initiative, building customer support and driving awareness amongst colleagues.

• Personal resilience, problem solving and business development skills in a large, matrix commercial environment.

• Strong presentation skills.
