10-month contract
Supporting an existing, established manufacturing global company with the further growth of UAV product sales and services across a broad spectrum of applications, we are seeking a Buyer for a 10-month contract to join their Purchasing Team within the Operations Department. This is an office-based position in Leicester.
Liaising with UK and international supply chains, you will be responsible for:
- Purchasing goods and services, both direct and indirect, as required by the company for use in its products and support of its operations.
- Operating in a project-orientated environment requiring an understanding of the objectives, project plan, key events and milestones to ensure the provision of appropriate purchasing support
In addition, duties and tasks:
- Coordination of requirements in cooperation with the wider Operations Team to ensure timely availability of items or services to the company
- Selecting, managing and maintaining approval of suppliers capable of meeting the needs of the company, across multiple projects
- Ensuring that suppliers provide items, services and associated documentation in accordance with the company's quality assurance requirements
- Building and maintaining good working relationships with allocated suppliers
- Negotiating with suppliers on price, lead time and other aspects to ensure the best value for money for the company
- Responsible for purchasing either direct or indirect items or services, or a combination of both:
o Direct items or services being those that form part of the products and services the company offers to its customers. Typical items may include items manufactured to drawing (including machined items, plastics, sub-assemblies, gaskets, labels), electrical and mechanical components & consumables (catalogue and bespoke), software and licenses, testing & engineering services.
o Indirect items or services being those that are necessary for the company to effectively carry out its operations at various sites and facilities. This may include production tools, test equipment, personal protective equipment, site facilities and services, security, IT and office equipment.
- Regular contact and coordination of meetings with suppliers, including visits to their facilities, video and telephone calls as required.
- Accountable for timely placement of purchase orders and achieving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), such as on-time delivery
- Management of purchasing requirements for both new items and maintenance or repair of existing customer equipment.
- Maintaining associated purchasing data Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) system
- Maintaining an ethical approach on behalf of the company
You will need to be able to develop and manage effective relationships across the breadth of the company and its customers and have the confidence to technically lead cross discipline project teams. The successful candidate will be expected to bring maturity and credibility when engaging with customers, senior managers and stakeholders. We expect the incoming Buyer to be able to demonstrate the following skills and capabilities:

- Experience in the aerospace or similar industry with an emphasis on electro-mechanical products or systems and a manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with technical drawings and data, sourcing and identifying items
- Experience in operating MRP systems and creating purchase orders
- Good working knowledge of Windows operating system and Microsoft Office toolset
