Johnson Winter & Slattery is a full service commercial firm with specialist expertise in all facets of commercial activity, covering the spectrum of transactional needs, advisory and compliance as well as dispute resolution. Our lawyers and practice groups are ranked as leading, by Chambers Asia-Pacific, Asia Pacific Legal 500, Best Lawyers and Doyle's Guide. We enjoy a reputation as a leading independent Australian firm focused on complex transactions and disputes. We have over 400 professionals working in our Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane & Canberra offices.
About the Team
Our Legal Assistant team is critical to the success of our Partners and Practitioners. Our secretaries bring with them a diverse range of legal secretarial experience across all areas of commercial law, and are committed to providing high level, efficient, and effective secretarial support.
About the Role
An opportunity exists for a Legal Assistant with at least three years’ Legal Secretarial experience to join our Perth office. The candidate will provide high-level secretarial support including, but not limited to; diary management, travel arrangements, document drafting and amending, billing and other ad-hoc tasks as needed.
Our Perth office is a welcoming and collaborative office that fosters a supportive and high-performing environment. This is an exciting opportunity to join a tight-knit secretarial community where everyone supports each other and you can develop long-lasting relationships over coffee, team lunches, and Friday drinks.
About You
You have plenty of technical aptitude and previous relevant experience, but there is much more to you. You:
have min. three years' experience delivering high-level legal secretarial support with and client focused outlook, always;
work well under pressure, meet your deadlines and excel working autonomously;
have strong communication and stakeholder management skills and you aren't afraid to use them, internally and externally;
take a collaborative, positive and energetic approach to everything you do, and
have great attention to detail
We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace, where our differences are also our strength. If you are interested in this role and our firm (but don’t necessarily meet every single requirement in this advertisement), we encourage you to contact us to discuss potential opportunities.
Working at JWS
We are not like the other corporate law firms.
When you ask our people why they choose to work for us, the most common response is “because of the people.”
We value ‘humanity’ and ‘collaboration’ over everything else. We care about the wellbeing of our people and will invest time in understanding your objectives so that we can support you throughout your career.
We believe it’s this focus on people that has seen our firm grow rapidly to become one of Australia’s leading independent law firms.
Why?
Experience like no other
We will put you at the forefront of the corporate world. We work with our clients on their most complex and business critical legal work – it's what we do best.
Thrive with us
With us, you will not be held back. Our people take on the work that reflects their ability, not their job title. You will have more opportunity to make an impact, have your ideas heard and step up in your career.
In it together
We pride ourselves on being down to earth, approachable, but always high performing. We have worked hard to create a culture where people look out for each other. Our ethos is: “we’re in it together” and it’s what we live by.
We are committed to promoting a workplace that is diverse and inclusive. We encourage the best people - regardless of race, religion, or belief if any, gender, gender identity, disability, sexual orientation, or age - to fulfill their professional aspirations with us. In particular we would welcome applications from First Nations candidates.
Johnson Winter Slattery pays respect to Elders past and present of our nation’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We honour the deep spiritual, cultural and customary connections of Traditional Owners to the Australian landscape, including Australia’s waterways, land, and sea country.
