The role

• Lead a diverse team of Outsourcing analysts and Seniors across our Colchester and Ipswich offices with Partner Support inspiring, motivating and coaching the team to be the best they can be.
• Leading on the conversion of new business opportunities and delivering proposals to prospects through building internal relationships and external networking.
• Able to demonstrate that they have an extensive pragmatic working knowledge of bookkeeping.
• Able to confidently use software such as Xero, Sage, Dext, Quickbooks, ApprovalMax and Go Proposal as well as training others in the team to use them in an efficient way.
• Reviewing bookkeeping, management accounts and VAT Returns completed by team members.
• Managing the workflow of the Bookkeeping team. Reviewing weekly work plans & ensuring the team is working towards deadlines throughout the week, as well as ensuring that quality standards are maintained
• Review weekly timesheets completed by the team ensuring that time posted to clients and non-chargeable assignments are consistent.
• Working with clients to agree timelines of when bookkeeping and VAT returns need submitting.
• Being the main point of contact for clients for Bookkeeping work.
• Occasional visits to client offices to set up and maintain bookkeeping records and quarterly VAT returns.

What you'll need to succeed

• Civil Engineering or related qualifications. SMSTS & CSCS Experience of managing client priorities, communication and expectations.
• Evidence of managing health & safety through the construction phase in a highway and/or rail environment.
• Knowledge and experience of partnering with a strong delivery focus

The role
This diverse role offers real scope to further develop your existing accounting skills as well as your external profile. You will be expected to participate in all stages of an audit from planning through to fieldwork, and finalisation of the assignment for Partner review. Reporting directly to the Corporate Services Manager and Partners, you will oversee client engagement teams and may manage multiple engagements simultaneously whilst also taking a lead on client contact. Whilst the majority of this role comprises of audit work, you will also be involved in supporting clients with accounts preparation and corporation tax matters.

• Overseeing day to day work on client engagements; mentoring and developing team members
• Leading audit assignments in order to produce high quality audit files
• Reviewing assignments and working papers, providing constructive feedback to team members

About the role

This is not your average Business Services accounts practice role. The role will predominantly involve preparing management accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, along with supporting the junior team with queries. This role also involves reviewing client records and making recommendations for improvements and assisting the clients with implementation projects including planning and training.

Essential skills and experience:

Compliance & Building Safety Manager
The organisation: The council oversees various services, including housing, planning, and community initiatives. Provide a comprehensive, high quality, customer focused service to the Council for the effective maintenance and improvement of the housing stock and local environment, with specific emphasis on responsibility for managing compliance and building safety matters for all IBC Council properties and customers. The post holder will ensure all aspects of the Building Safety Act and other Health and Safety legislation are met within legal, financial, time and policy constraints. As the Compliance & Building Safety Manager, it involves several key responsibilities. These include ensuring compliance with UK standards across all council housing stock through regular inspections covering gas safety, electrical systems, fire alarms, emergency lighting, and more. The manager promptly addresses any non-compliance issues. Additionally, specific inspections (such as gas safety and fire risk assessments) are overseen, with meticulous record-keeping to maintain high standards. Achieving 100% access to council homes for gas servicing and electrical testing is a priority, requiring collaboration with Customer Liaison Officers.
Qualifications and Experience:

• Building services-related degree or equivalent qualification or a degree in property.
• Understanding of compliance management.
