Your new role
- To ensure our client's communications and engagement department is recognised and promoted as a professional, inclusive and valued emergency service, with all stakeholders and that essential messages are communicated internally and externally.
- To proactively promote the organisation, its work and activities, employees, career opportunities, campaigns, successes and key messages across a variety of digital platforms, both internally and externally, evaluating outcomes where appropriate.
- To work independently to strategically develop and deliver the Service's social media strategy in a creative way, managing all corporate social media channels and supporting on-call stations with their local pages.
- To proactively manage the reputation of the organisation, including media and social media management and monitoring, and provide a timely and full brief to senior managers on risks and issues as they arise, including suggested mitigation and actions.
- To assist and manage the production of creative content, including graphics, infographics, videography and material of all descriptions including digital content and traditional printed materials, liaising with colleagues, internally and beyond the organisation, to ensure materials are appropriate, engaging and reflect the organisation's brand, and act as the corporate photographer/videographer when required.
- To produce well written and accurate communication suitable for different audiences (internal and external), including social media posts, web content, news releases and quotes, articles for inclusion in corporate publications, information leaflets and posters, internal messages and other corporate documents that arise.
- To play an active role in external and internal responses for the organisation during major and significant incidents including crisis management, social media, media handling, photography, video, website management and briefing stakeholders and working together with communication teams from other agencies. This includes attending events and incidents to manage communication and as part of an out of hours evening and weekend on-call rota (additional payment, one in four weeks on call).
What you\'ll need to succeed
- To hold a relevant degree or equivalent experience
- In-depth experience of working within a media/communication or public relations environment
- In-depth experience in creating and implementing digital campaigns utilising multiple platforms and tools including photography and video production to capture well composed photos and video content for a variety of uses.
- In-depth experience of Microsoft 365, especially Sharepoint, Teams, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook, Publisher, as well as design applications such as Canva, Adobe and Photoshop and other content management systems for websites and intranets
- In-depth experience in creative and engaging content for all social media channels for a variety of different messaging and purposes to get messages across to different audiences.
- Effective interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear, concise and articulate way that is suitable and adapted to the target audience (internal and external) and speak publicly with confidence and professionalism including crisis management situations.
- Ability to use social media proficiently such as facebook, X, Flickr, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, Instagram and NextDoor
