About the job

• As an environment compliance specialist, you will be responsible for driving high levels of compliance with our environmental (CAR) licences, ensuring the root cause of any non compliance is identified and proposing suitable corrective actions.
• The role will require visits to our farming locations to work with our local teams to assess and review site level compliance processes and identify required interventions to ensure delivery of compliance.
• You will be responsible for developing and delivering effective training to staff on environmental compliance.
• You will liaise closely with the farming support teams ensuring effective communication and efficient compliance processes for permit conditions, including notifications, data reporting, and report submissions.
• The role will involve regular liaison with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), to discuss the findings of compliance reports, operational processes and practices, non-compliance resolution and improvement plans as required.
• The role will involve engagement with external stakeholders, including customers and certifying bodies presenting information on Mowi’s compliance record.
• You will be able to communicate and recommend interventions relating to permit compliance to all internal stakeholders, including senior managers, working in a structured, collaborative, and effective manner.
• You will provide a lead role within the Mowi environment team providing expertise and guidance on environmental compliance with SEPA CAR licences.
• You will support and promote the delivery of environmental compliance as a core function of team activities.

Ideal Candidate

• Qualified to a degree level in marine science or other comparable discipline.
• You will have practical experience of delivering environmental compliance in an equivalent position.
• You will have a strong understanding of what constitutes environmental compliance and be able to identify the cause of non-compliance and analyse and determine appropriate actions to rectify.
• An effective trainer with an ability to identify the learning styles and methods that produces increased awareness and understanding of compliance actions for both existing and new staff in compliance facing roles.
• You will be able to communicate findings and analysis of non-compliance in a clear, concise way that benefits the company to senior managers.

The Role – Process Technician

Mowi Feed is seeking to develop suitable candidates to take on the exciting and challenging tasks of an expansive, dynamic and international manufacturing environment. The feed plant runs 24/7-365 and the successful candidate will be required to participate in a shift rota. The duties undertaken will include:

• Monitoring and optimising the production of fish feed from raw ingredients through to the loading of finished feed; both physically and digitally via control software
  • Delivering measured and timely process parameter changes to achieve products that conform fully to product specifications
• Quality control, which includes the testing of the feed pellets being produced and analysing/recording the findings within an IT-centred laboratory system
  • Requires the ability to efficiently manage a schedule of routine procedures, identify and instigate corrective actions and be competent to make recommendations on improvement.
• Coordinating repair work with the Maintenance team and carrying out routine maintenance/cleaning of process equipment.

Qualifications/Skills

Mowi Feed is seeking a highly motivated person to be a part of our logistics team within our Operations Department. The role covers a range of operational tasks: from intake/receipt of all dry and liquid raw materials (in both bulk and bag form) from a range of vessels and vehicles, right through the supply chain to the loading and despatch of finished product bags, with an array of tasks in between. Most tasks are quite physical so a Logistics Technician requires a good level of fitness and flexibility.

The feed plant runs 24/7, 365 days of the year and the successful candidate will be required to participate in a shift rota.

The duties undertaken and key responsibilities will include:

• Intake, sampling and processing of all Raw Materials in dry and liquid form, for both bulk and bag deliveries;
• Ensuring materials are stored and filled correctly and in good time to ensure continuous running of production lines;
• Bagging out finished product into a range of bag sizes; stack and store safely within appropriate areas of the warehouse whilst maintaining accurate records of stored volumes;
• Packing, storing and loading all Finished Product bags to a range of vessels and vehicles in a timely and efficient way to ensure all order requirements are met;
• Creating, maintaining and developing a safe working environment for all, continuously improving routines and safe systems of work;
• Working together with vessels and vehicles to ensure safe operations around the site and pier through clear communication;

Syre & North Loch Naver Estates are adjoining remote, upland, sporting estates located in Strathnaver, Sutherland. They include three of six rotating beats on the renowned River Naver which is one of the very best, private salmon rivers in the country. Extending to some 23,000 acres in total, with red deer stalking, numerous hill lochs, woodcock shooting and the impressive Syre Lodge at its heart, the Estates offer a unique sporting experience in stunning, unspoilt countryside.

We are looking to recruit a full time Ghillie to work on the River Naver during the fishing season and outside the fishing season, to assist with general estate maintenance, stalking and shooting. You will report directly to the Head Ghillie.

The Ghillie’s job description:

Ø To ghillie on one of the River Naver’s rotating beats during the fishing season (12th January to 30th September) Monday to Friday and a half day on Saturday

Ø To cover for the Head Ghillie when he is on annual leave

Ø Assisting the Head Ghillie in keeping and reporting accurate fishing catch records and to work with the River Bailiff if required

Ø Stalking with guests and to assist the Head Ghillie/Stalker to undertake deer culls in line with Deer Management Group requirements. Assist in the accurate report of deer cull records

Ø To attend woodcock shoots as required

Ø To attend to all guests on the Estate and ensure their stay is made as enjoyable and as pleasurable as possible

Ø During the winter months to undertake estate maintenance works as and when required including but not limited to fencing, walling, property repairs and road repairs

Ø To undertake habitat management as required and to control predators and pests

Ø To participate with the Estate’s conservation work including habitat monitoring and assessments

We are looking to recruit an experienced hands-on Housekeeper to run Syre Lodge which is usually occupied by guests from mid-March to end September/early October each year. You will be expected to work more hours during the months Syre Lodge is occupied and less hours out of season.

The job requirements:

Ø To be responsible for the smooth day to day running of Syre Lodge and Dalvina

Ø to undertake all housekeeping duties including but not limited to cleaning, hoovering, polishing, changing beds, looking after lodge contents including silver and some antiques and very occasionally some cooking

Ø To manage and oversee seasonal domestic staff including an assistant housekeeper and cook and to arrange a works rota as required, including evening shift work

Ø To work closely with other members of staff

Ø To ensure Syre Lodge, Dalvina and if required, other Estate properties are managed appropriately out of season, particularly during the winter months and to regularly check them

Ø To ensure the lodge is maintained to a high standard and to oversee any agreed maintenance works

Ø To oversee the security of Syre Lodge and other estate properties

Ø To manage and oversee the maintenance of Dalvina Lodge (which is cleaned by a separate cleaning company) to ensure it is kept in a clean and tidy condition

37.5 hours per week

Mon – Fri 8:30am - 4:30pm
£27,069 – £36,816 per annum depending on Qualifications

We require a qualified Plumber to work with our Repairs Team. Relevant plumbing experience is essential but knowledge of Gas and/or Renewable is desirable, this would be reflected in the higher end of the pay scale. Works are extremely varied and could involve replacing a bath one minute to fixing a burst pipe the next.

The successful applicant can be based anywhere in the Kintyre area.
