We have a fabulous opportunity for a Specialist Pharmacist (Band 7) - Technical Services to join our aseptic team at Royal Blackburn Hospital.

This role will focus on ensuring the effective and efficient quality assurance of unlicensed aseptic products and to provide support for the specialised chemotherapy clinical service.

The Technical service operates under the section 10 exemption of the Medicine Act 1968 (as referenced in The Human Medicines Regulations 2012) and comply with the standards of the Quality Assurance of Aseptic Preparation services QAAPs.

We are seeking a motivated individual who demonstrates commitment, accountability and is a positive role model for our Aseptic Technical Team and Chemotherapy Clinical Team.

We need a team player with technical and clinical skills to help develop a complex part of our pharmacy service.

Technical Services deliver a central intravenous additive service (CIVAS) providing an adult and neonatal parenteral intravenous service (TPN), complex no cancer monoclonal antibodies (MABs), chemotherapy, immunotherapy, complex clinical trials, antibiotics, and continuous infusions, for clinical areas across Blackburn and Burnley site.

You will have excellent capabilities to work as a team member, essential for creating, improving, and sustaining the safety, quality, and efficiency of our service and the Quality Management System to ensure we maintain compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice, regulatory and legislative requirements.

Integral to the role will be:
• Acting as "Authorising Pharmacist" under section 10 exemption
• Adherence with the overarching Pharmaceutical Quality Management System (PQS) for Technical Services
• Provision of leadership with regards to all operational quality aspects
• Provision of a Specialist Oncology Service.
• Supporting the Principal Pharmacist in building and maintaining a robust Quality Management System (QMS).

The post holder will:
• Assist the Lead Oncology Pharmacist, Lead Aseptic Pharmacist and Lead Clinical Trials Pharmacist on all aspects of the service, on matters relating to aseptic dispensing, the aseptic preparation of parenteral drugs, investigational medicinal products (IMPs) and the regulatory aspects of pharmacist supervision in unlicensed and licensed premises.
• Work with the Lead Aseptic Pharmacist and Principal Pharmacist for technical services to maintain and improve the pharmaceutical quality system and participate actively at quality management system meetings.
• Work closely with the wider aseptic team to ensure the smooth running of the aseptic units.
• Maintain a high quality, cost effective and efficient patient-centred pharmacy service in the provision of aseptic services.
• Assist the senior pharmacy technical services team to ensure that clinical trials are set up and conducted in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and aseptic products are prepared in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and all relevant medicines regulations and ethical requirements, to ensure the product is fit for its intended use.
• Contribute and support the Principal Pharmacist for technical services in maintaining the document control system, reviewing as per schedule any relevant procedures and worksheets.
• Assess the stability of new and existing products, investigate deviations, and determine root causes, and contribute to the development of corrective and preventative actions.
• Complete internal audit and quarterly unit inspections, identify gaps with standards and agree action plans with the Senior Aseptic team.
• Assist with the Planned Preventative Maintenance and Validations programme for the Technical Services Unit.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team in the newly founded Directorate of General Internal Medicine providing inpatient care for acute general medical admissions on the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital site. The job will predominantly be to provide Consultant level inpatient ward cover of the General Internal Medicine wards though there may be opportunity for subspecialist interest OPD activity.



The Consultant in General Internal Medicine will provide general medical care on one of the GIM wards at the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital site. The ward will have 22-25 beds and cross cover may be required to support colleagues annual leave. The ward cover will be supported across the directorate by 2 Specialty Doctors, a Senior Clinical Fellow and Junior Clinical Fellows

The Division of Medicine and Emergency Care is implementing an optimisation plan for the inpatient medical wards to improve patient care, experience and safety with the aim to have the right patients on the right wards for their medical needs. The established medical directorates of Acute Medicine, Cardiology, Digestive Diseases, Metabolic Medicine, Medicine for Older People and Respiratory Medicine all have inpatient wards and the newly established General Internal Medicine wards will add to the bed base with 2 additional GIM wards initially and a 3rdward has also been funded for 6 months of the year to manage winter pressures.

New Consultants will be supported on a consultant leadership programme.





The post holder will work 10 programmed activities for East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust including weekend cover 1 in 7. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a community rehabilitation band 6 Occupational Therapist to join a supportive and enthusiastic community therapy service, working across community delivering rehabilitation in patients own homes or current place of residence, following discharge from an acute bed, or supporting long term condition management.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Clinical Team Lead Stroke Specialist Physiotherapist to join our Integrated Stroke Therapy Service. The role will be working as part of the Community Stroke Team based across Daisyfield Mill and Pendle Community Hospital covering the Pennine Lancashire Area.

The job focus will be to clinically lead the Physiotherapy team in collaboration with our current band 7 PT. You will work closely with the wider MDT providing highly specialist advanced assessment and treatment of patients with complex stroke rehabilitation needs on the stroke pathway. You will be a HCPC registered therapist with sound knowledge and experience of stroke.

As the clinical lead, you will plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate the physiotherapy community stroke service in partnership with the other clinical leads and the operational manager.

We have an experienced leadership team working in the community service therefore you will have a strong support system in place for anyone new into a band 7 role.

Flexibility in working patterns will be required to meet the needs of the service along with access to a vehicle is essential to commute between sites. The role will also include working as part of the weekend working rota across the stroke therapy pathway.

The role will require you to undertake advanced stroke physiotherapy assessment and rehabilitation with patients, allocated to your caseload, along with providing close supervision to junior staff in your team.

As part of the community stroke rehabilitation service, you will work closely with the wider MDT to set collaborative rehabilitation goals and treatment programmes to support timely discharge into the community. As such you will be expected to build close links with our inpatient stroke therapy staff to support a seamless early discharge into the community setting supporting acute patient flow.

You will be responsible for the day to day running of the physiotherapy team which will include both clinical and operational management responsibilities.

The suitable candidate will have a broad understanding of the stroke rehabilitation pathway from admission through to the community setting and have post graduate stroke or neuro rehabilitation experience and wishing to specialise in this clinical field.

The Integrated Stroke Therapy Team is a SSNAP ‘A’ rated service which provides specialist stroke services to adults within the acute & rehabilitation setting at both Royal Blackburn Hospital and Pendle Community Hospital. While the East Lancashire Community Stroke Service provides rehabilitation to patients within a range of settings including outpatient departments, patients’ homes, and care home settings across Pennine Lancashire.

The integrated therapy team consists of a whole MDT team including Occupational Therapists, Speech & Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Clinical Psychology, AHP Professor in Neurorehabilitation and Stroke along with Therapy Assistant Practitioners.

As a service we are actively involved in research developments and as the clinical lead you will have opportunities to participate in service improvement projects. We also have a robust training and supervision structure in place to support staff to full fill their role.

As part of the therapy service, you will work across the stroke therapy pathway at weekends. The weekend rota includes a 7-day working rota including bank holidays.

CLINICAL PRACTICE

Be responsible for providing clinical care to a defined caseload of patients that require highly specialised assessment, planning and intervention skills.

Undertake a comprehensive assessment at a highly specialist level with patients on a designated caseload. This may involve the selection and application of standardised and non-standardised assessment, along with evidence-based treatment planning and intervention.

Work as an autonomous practitioner in a variety of settings (clinic, patient’s own home, school, care home, hospital, etc.) where there is a requirement to make decisions spontaneously.

CLINICAL LEADERSHIP

Responsible for the effective case-load management of a complex case-load individually and within team and allocation of work to senior and junior staff, support staff and students. This will require an overview and re-allocation of work-load on a daily basis due to changing priorities, in order to support delivery of key quality and performance targets.

Actively involved in research activities and practice development in work area; seeking out evidence-based practice, appraising, and applying knowledge as appropriate.

Lead on the development of a clinical network within designated clinical area/pathway supporting delivery of best practice and relevant clinical guidelines.

TEAM LEADERSHIP

The role of the Advanced Practitioner is as a non-medical practitioner, working as part of the Clinical Haematology team, under the supervision of a Consultant Haematologist.

The post holder will provide clinical expertise and advice for haematology oncology chemotherapy patients. They will demonstrate a sound understanding of the issues related to the identification, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of non-malignant and malignant haematological conditions and pre and post chemotherapy patients. At Blackburn Endoscopy Unit, we provide a service that offers all types of Endoscopy for elective and emergency procedures for inpatients and outpatients. We are seeking to appoint a qualified Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) from a Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional background, to join our Emergency General Surgical team for a 12-month period.

The role entails working across the Surgical Division including our Surgical Wards, Surgical Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit (SAECU) and Emergency Surgical Unit (ESU).
