The Opportunity…
At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
We are currently looking for a Commercial Assistant who will report into a Senior Commercial Manager, and be responsible for providing commercial support to the Commercial Management / Supply Chain Team.

What you’ll be doing…
- Providing support to the HPC Commercial Team and to the Project Managers.
- Assessment and valuation of Contractor’s applications and the processing of payment certificates in accordance with the contractual terms and conditions.
- Administration of the Early Warning and General Communication process’.
- Assessment of Contractor Proposals.
- Attending progress review meetings, ensuring contractual deliverables are met.
- Monitoring and reporting on commercial aspects of the contract and/or project flagging issues at the earliest opportunity to the Commercial Manager.
- Provision of advice and information on contract change including proposed scope changes, recommending appropriate action, and producing required documentation
- Preparation of commercial cost reports and progress measurement
- Preparation of ITT’s and support to contract placement.
- Undertaking final account reviews, settlements and reconciliations to facilitate project close out
- Administration of commercial management tools including, but not limited to CEMAR and SAP.
Who you are…
Your background may include some of the following:
- Either educated to degree level, or have relevant work experience with ability to demonstrate a track record of successful contract administration.
- Experience of working as part of a team within a commercial environment.
- Good working knowledge of contracts, basic estimating, valuations, cost reporting and financial modelling.
- Basic understanding of contract performance measurement, risk management and change and claim management.
- Good negotiating, influencing and communication skills to command professional respect at all levels is essential.
- Good analytical skills, including use of SAP, CEMAR and Excel.
